Hi windy2706. You don't say much in your 'post'. What does your wife gamble on? Who's money is she using? The most important thing is to separate your finances from hers. Don't pay her debts, never give her money. If it's online you can download blocking software. If she's acknowledges the problem she should hand over her finances for you to control. She can sign up to GameStop, she can get a debt management plan. If you are in financial difficulties call stepchange. Find a gamanon meeting. Call gamcare for support. Unfortunately until the gambler admits the problem they usually continue. Seek help asap.

Hi Windy2706,

as Merry go round says - please seek help. Call the Helpline on 0808 8020 133 or the Netline here to speak one-to-one with an adviser. The services are open 8AM to Midnight 7 days a week.

It is essential that you focus on protecting yourself (and anyone else who is affected by your wife's gambling) from financial and emotional harm in this situation.

All the very best,

Eva

Thank you sorry it has been a while. My wife is still gambling online and it is getting worse, she admits she has a problem but is always stalling on getting help. It has got to the point we almost lost our house and she has been lending lots of money off family members to hide the gambling. She is going to end up loosing everyone. She has joined this site a while a go but has not used it. Are you able to email her offering support? Her name is xx xx and as I say she is a member on the site.

Hi windy2706 did you seek any help for yourself? Did you download blocking software? Did she sign up to gamstop? Did she go to GA? You can't wait for her to stop it'll be too late. Ignoring it enables her to continue. You need to tell everyone she's borrowing from in the family. Addiction feeds on secrets and lies. She needs help to stop. Giving money to a compulsive gambler is like giving an alcoholic booze. The more she gambles the more her mental health is affected. Please get some help, call gamcare. Find a gamanon meeting, they are online Sunday night 8-9. Look at their website. You need to resource all the help that's out there.
