hi folks, my problems was i always liked a little bet, but when fobts were introduced to british bookmakers a decade ago, then they really got a hold of me, from a pound in and 4 x 25p on each number and then walking, to 100 spins, ok that wasnt over night, but i dont know where the time has gone, and yes i can remember the good days, but no so the bad days, and why is that, there is far too many, lately i would say one more big win and then im quitting, and i was reading a thread on here and a reply by James P (sorry if thats the wrong user) but this guy made so much sense, he said that say you got that big win, say 5000, then you could easily lose 9000, but without the big win, you wouldnt contemplate losing 9000, anyway sorry if that makes no sense, but its something that i think about alot and it makes me not bet at all, ive self excluded from bookies by home and work, my partner knows and ive got a family, that keeps me going, ok its only been 2 weeks without a gamble, but i was a person who was in the bookies at lunch and after work, debit cards being used, cash getting drawn out, but that was then and this is now, its hard, but i keep the self exclusion copys on the cupboards in the kitchen, keeps me a reminder every day, the gamcare leaflet on the fridge, i am glad that i never walked on a big win, i walked on a big loss, it makes me so determined not to bet again, anyway thanks for reading, sorry for going on, but a bookie is a pickpocket that lets you use your own hands. heres to enjoying life
Hi new shoes - Well done on your two weeks of freedom from gambling. Your post sounds very positive - I like your description of a bookie as a pickpocket who lets you use your own hands!
Like you, what started out as a bit of fun and relaxation (online slots) for me, soon became a destructive obsession. I have been free for over three months now, and it feels great.
I hope you can visit this site regularly - it's so helpful with lots of support and encouragement.
Best wishes for your journey.
Joanna
