I can't actually believe I've managed 38 days without a bet. From gambling all day everyday for 4.5 years... A month feels like a long time.

I have to agree with so many of you... My life is so much better without gambling. So much less anxiety, time to think about life! I'm starting to do a new qualification and improving myself. The other day I went to the shops and I still had my salary a week after being paid... Cannot remember last tine that happened! I can't take the credit though, it's all down to Gamstop... The best click I ever did when I signed up to that.

I still have the feelings of dread when I think of my debts and everything coming to light but at the moment, it's one day at a time.

Generally I think things are going well. What does still get me though is seeing adverts on my phone for sites, normally slots where (of course) a massive jackpot is being won. Does anyone know if there is a way to stop the adverts coming up? If so, I'd really appreciate knowing.

Thanks for reading.

Hi, well done on 38 days. Your post takes me back to last summer when I was the same as you and yes life is so much better. In fact I would go so far to say I now have a life whereas when I was gambling I was purely only existing living a lie every day. I had massive debts run up on credit cards but contacted Stepchange, the debt charity, and am now on an affordable repayment plan with them with all my creditors and it takes all the stress out of keeping up with payments, may be worth having a look.

I know what you mean about the ads, they annoy me to death on facebook and it seems no matter how many times you block them they still keep coming. I changed my subject preferences to omit any subject to do with gambling but it still doesn't seen to work.

As you say one day at a time, keep going, you are getting your life back on track.

All the best

Hi

Really well done on reaching 38 days, not far to go until it's 50!

You should be able to click the three dots in the top right of the ad on Facebook and select 'hide ad'. It will ask you for a reason- you don't have to give one but I selected 'too sensitive' for l*******s ads and they soon stopped.

All the best and keep going.

Hi all

Forum users have already made great suggestions, but I'm just going to add a link to this Gambling Commission guidance on reducing unwanted gambling-related content on Facebook, just in case you can find something additional in there to help you:

https://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/public-and-players/guide/controlling-gambling-related-content-you-see-on

Best wishes,

Thank you so much everyone for your kind words and advice.

43 days today ? still going well but today was hard. I honestly don't think I'd be in this place without gamstops help. Hopefully one day I'll be strong enough on my own.
