Be honest, who's waiting for their wages so they can have a little gamble?

Why post this comment ? There are people on this site who have and are really suffering through gambling problems, your comment seems flippant to say the least. If you can't offer constructive advice to avoid gambling, why bother posting?.

are you serious? I asked because there's every chance someone could be just waiting for some money knowing they will definitely gamble. Why avoid it, best way to sort it is to tackle it head on. It's reality mate. It was a question, which would lead to constructive advice had anyone admitted to it. I was considering too. I know you lost your life but don't get emotional to me, if my post in anyway tempted you to gamble or pushed your life any more to a loss, then I appologise. If not then move on!

Flippant. Lol like you can make that judgement over a realistic question, I didn't post it on an alcoholics forum. If I did and asked "be honest who is waiting for that opportunity to go get a drink?" Or something along those lines, would that be flippant too?

It was if anything, supposed to lead to anyone genuinely thinking about doing it and going ahead with it, to post so it then it could be discussed to refrain from it. But look what you turned it into, bravo.

Good luck with your gambling free life

Pay days when stopping gambling are an important issue so maybe a more constructive thread would be a better idea?

Thankyou DeLorean, I agree.

Payday is a very worrying day for us partners too.

We worry if the wages will have been 'intercepted'. we worry whether our recovery gamblers are struggling today.

I know i worry just because there were so many past incidents where wages were gone before i could pay the bills and the worry is hardwired in (something we are slowly rewiring), equally Mr P worries that this is a day where I am easily upset, which in turn reminds him of the things he has done, which makes him a bit emotional too, vicious circle.

Avoiding the payday hissy fit is probably as difficult as avoiding the payday millionaire syndrome he had for all those years.

Defnitely a day to try to take things easy. I now dont have direct debits, i pay all our bills over the counter on payday, like its the 1950s or something, but it makes me happy to see these things paid for, 100% paid, no direct debits cancelled or bouncing or anything like that, certainty that we are paid up for the month is so satisfying, which is making payday easier.

Do i think it? Yes i do but like later posters have said its important if i want to remain gamble free to put 100% effort in. this means handing over as much as i can and not keeping XXX for what ever reason

some times i read about this person and that saying they never think about gambling. I've no idea what that feels like but i do try hard. thanks for the question tri

For me rayan the words 'whose waiting for a gamble' on a forum which is supposed to be encouraging the opposite scenario was not well put, maybe if you had expanded the one-liner as you did later, i would not have had a hissy fit. As for getting emotional with you, I don't think I personally got emotional with you. I am suffering from quitting gambling and losing an enormous amount of money and right now the slightest comment/person can set me off, so i apologise if i upset you, but ........................ your original comment seemed to me short and un-helpful. Sorry but that's my opinion.

Lost my life, I totally understand and share that sensitivity, and you're right when we have an outburst, it is not personal, not aimed at anyone, it's just a comment and it tipped the scales, causing a mini explosion that is over as quickly as it blew up.

Balance is a fragile thing, a huge well done to everyone for the strength they are showing, especially if it is payday for you.

Thanks to people posting on this thread - it shows that sometimes there is a delicate balance between being thought provoking and trying to start debate, and pushing someone's buttons at a delicate time when pay day is upon us. Rayan I can see that you had some positive intention behind your post and you wanted people to engage and be honest about temptation, but perhaps the way it was expressed could have been more sensitive. It can be hard to get these things across in a written medium. Please remember that we are all here with a common aim of supporting each other and everyone should reflect on that when posting or replying to posts. I hope everyone is well and avoiding temptation today.

Best wishes

Rebecca

I got paid today and in all honesty I did think about gambling. Not so I could immediately fritter my money today though.

My gambling thoughts strayed to what could be a "danger period" for me and probably fo a few others on the Forum it's when Cheltenham and Aintree roll around again. I'm still has determined as ever to stay gambling free and I know it will be mildly difficult period for me. I won't give in though. I'll achieve it by visiting the forum and I have the incentive of the 2015 challenge. Keeping very busy will also help to see me through.

Cheers
