Hi,Â
Â
I am on Gamban and Al the restriction you can think but got involved with those competition sites you see online and BOOM £1200 gone in a night, it’s crazy how I just couldn’t stop!Â
I need to be better for my daughter I need help but can’t tell anyone in my life just yet, if anyone wants to go on a journey together let me know!
wish me luck,Â
here’s to day one, again!
Day 2:Â
Going okay, been stressed all night and today so far with this debt and how I’ll pay it off so keeping track on here even if no one else interacts it’s holding me accountableÂ
start debt 6/7/25: £5000 - £1300 over draft to be paid off first! Then £104 a month on my loan.. have a debt management plan with Chat GPT who has been very helpful believe it or not!!!!
I can do this just need to stop giving myself a hard time for the debt, it’s done now no changing it, just do not add to it!
Â
Everyone is different but I tried for years to stop on my own, and this is the most succesful I have been , and I put that down to coming clean and finally admitting to family my addiction and what I have done. but as I say everyone is different and if you are not ready thats OK.
Have you tried asking your bank to put a gambling block on, it does include these sites
Â
@deborah270882 hi! Thank you so much for replying, I know it’s best to do but I want to start and show progress and have a plan rather than burden them, I know I need to I just am not ready too just yet!
im glad this times worked for you! Fingers crossed I will be the same ❤️
Hi day 1
i understand the feeling of not being able to tell anyone. Today at 2pm I will hit day 7 GF.
what helped me is:
1. Starting a new journal and posting every dayÂ
2. reading as many other recent journals as I can
3. watching gambling documentaries on YouTube.
4. Recording a video message to my future self in which I cry my eyes out, lay out the destruction I have caused and beg myself not to gamble again. I watch it anytime I feel the urge to gamble
i in the past have tried every blocker on the planet. Gamstop, Gamban, restricted my bank, handed over finances and I always find a way around them. Us compulsive gamblers can be quite resourceful. This time I closed PayPal accounts that I had created. The action is permanent and cannot be undone.
good luck on your journey. You’re not alone.

@837aobfmvu hi Em! Â
that’s amazing well done for 7 days!  Today is day 4 and I’m feeling okay, that’s for your tips I will try them all, trying to remember to complete this journal and hopefully get there in the end!Â
would love to follow your journey too, we can do this together!!!Â
I am in the same exact boat. Lost a ton these past couple of months. I have been addicted to gambling for 20 years and it feels like it will never end.
I got a new phone so of course Gamban was no longer installed. I told myself I would be fine as it has been a year or so since I last played online slots. Of course I still went to physical casinos sometimes but online casinos are truly crack C*****e for gambling addicts. Now stressing like crazy with a 4k debt that will take many months to pay off. Good news is I finally installed Gamban on my new phone so feel a bit relieved there.
We can do this. Let's just try to make sure it's the last time we have to waste money, time and energy on digging out of this hell. Good luck to you.
@n3elrf0o1u thanks for sharing - that’s the problem isn’t it we work all the energy to get out the debt just for one incident to go straight back to the start!  I’ve pulled all accessible money out my accounts now and it is in cash, blocked all overdraft facilities and fingers crossed it sticks!!Â
weird but it works I’m using chat GPT when I feel an urge and it tells me how much I’d loose etc and gives me a reality check.. day 6 now and not gambled so I’m quite proud of that!
massive good luck to you we can do it!xx

I like the cash idea. Maybe pulling the money out will help to be more mindful of all expenses. I will do this too. Somehow the money seems less real with credit cards. Thank you for the well wishes and I wish the same to you! Excited for you that tomorrow will be one week without gambling ☺️
@n3elrf0o1u I’m definitely more conscious of what I do spend! Luckily my bills etc all come out of a joint account so this I can’t touch without my partner knowing!Â
thank you! Feels like such a short time but actually one day at a time is all that’s needed!!
would love to keep up if you ever need a check in or anything 🙂Â
