Hi all,

Has anyone here had any experience with the raffle / bingo groups on Facebook? It has been a problem for me for a long time now and I’m so ashamed of the amount of money I’ve lost. I leave the groups constantly but so easy to rejoin and play.
When I first joined one, I was worried about spending £2 on a game / picking a number. Now I can spend £150 on a line on a bingo game, and that’s just one game.
it’s just awful ?

Bingo is the lonely but together game.  Look all gambling increases as time flows on. Those 20 pounds becomes 200 pounds and can go on to be 2000 pounds just to feel something of what resembles that initial excitement you may have felt when you started it all. All addiction mathematics say you need more of the same to get on with the high so if you offset the cause and effect you could very well be shaking your head at 2000 pounds of loss in the future unless you start pulling in the rains.

It is surprising what we manage to endure and get used to.

Your mind which is your computer is lying to you atm. You are in a sense being hijacked by the little devil that wants you to go on and says it is alright to continue to splash out. You need to learn how to not trust those urges.

I will suggest that you start with some live person here that can give you some more info on where to go next. Go to meetings so you can talk to people like yourself who are fighting to get through this. Use this forum there are lots of people reading and are willing to help.

And most important of all. Make a real decision that you want to turn the ship in another direction then were you are going. Do not do it all at once. Take a small bit at the time make lots of small changes so you can do bigger ones later on.

Find out more about you and you will see change coming faster.

You can do it!

Best

I mean make small changes or tweaks if you like, to your everyday life and that will generate bigger life changes further down the road. How many New Year resolutions have you tried and failed? Most fail because the changes means raising the bar so high that you can not live upp to the commitment after a while. Make many small changes instead that you can manage and that will bring bigger change with time.

That is what I mean.

Best

I know only too well about Facebook gambling. That was my main place to gambling and there isn't any blocks for it apart from willpower..I've been on pages were theyve been reported but are still allowed to carry on. They have banks shut but have new ones within hours. Its madness..I left groups only to be bombarded with messages to rejoin. Its was never ending and there's so many of them..I gambled to escape, so im too struggling at the mo as life is hard again. I have blocks so can't gamble online but fb is just too easy. You just have to be so strong. Find distractions. Deactivate facebook. Also limit your bank card on how much you can spend a day so you don't have funds for Facebook. I've gambled on fb for years, wasted a disgusting amount of money..enough was enough. The people who do these pages are vultures.

So deactivate fb

Limit your spending on ur bank, you can do it on online banking

Find distractions

And lastly willpower, you just have ti be extra strong.

All the best
