Hi Beautiful People,
Today I am feeling hopeful, I have not gambled for a few days (I have had the opportunity to too!) and I have had my first session of counselling. I have found my going out with my partner has distracted me well. I'm just a bit worried about pay day. I am a binge gambler, I spend all my money in a mater of minutes sometimes, and I just cannot resist the urge for online Blackjack. I always believe I'm going to win and eventually small wins become massive losses. I know my card details, so I think I'm going to cancel my card and order a new one as my partner is currently looking after my finances. To anyone out there with Debt, I'd recommend seeing the CAB, I took out a debt relief order for several thousand pounds worth of debt. My credit rating is shot, but the damage is not permanent, it can be reversed in a few years time. It's not the end of the world to have a rubbish credit rating, and it's better than sleepless nights. I am thankful for my supportive partner, I wouldn't here without him, and I am thankful for this forum and the support from like-minded people, as tonight, instead of searching for another loan to fund my habit, I am writing these words to you. I wish you all love and belief in your recovery. We can do it! Xx

Hi Little Miss Tiny

We sure can, stay positive.

Glad a DRO worked for you wasnt an option for me I owed more than £15000 and was frightened someone would go after my house. I'm still working through mine slowly but getting somewhere.

The love and support of this forum will last a lifetime. Money for gambling won't so lets stick with this and work together aye!

Lots of Love

Sazzy xx

Hi LittleMiss Tiny,

Welcome to the Forum, and well done for taking up the necessary steps that would lead you to have a gamble free life in the future.

I’m glad to know you’re feeling hopeful about your recovery, and pleased to hear you’re also getting a lot of support from our forum and partner too.

To try and avoid gambling, it’s advisable to make it difficult for yourself to have access to money as possible, thus allowing your partner to take control of all your finances is a step in the right direction.

As regards to managing your money on pay day, I suggest that you make a standing order so that the whole amount will go straight into the accounts that your partner has control of. In that way, your pay will be safe.

I suggest that you stay in touch with us, so we can offer you additional help in case you need it. Our lines are open everyday from 8.00am to midnight.

You can also contact us on our free phone Helpline on: 0808 8020 133, and speak to one of our advisers. An adviser can refer you to 12 sessions of free counselling if that would help you to stop your problematic gambling.

Thanks very much for your post, and pls. keep posting.

Regards,

Beatrice
