Waiting outside the g a meeting that starts at 7 not sure what to expect very nervous about going in but it's my first step to getting me back to try and sort my life out I'm sure it can only help.. Been doing all this c**P now for too long had a conversation with my 20 year old son and he spoke more sense than I can ever think. We haven't been close through life because I split up with his mom.. And for the last 10 12 years of my life I've just gone through life with all this I'm 41 now and I've still got time to make me and my fiancГ© happy if she stands by me??? I hope so time will tell. 20 minutes til I go in really nervous. Let's go and see what happens.

Well to be honest the meeting wasn't has bad as I thought.. I got to admit I could connect with some of the people their which made me feel a bit easier.. Made the first step so just need to stay focused and keep on my toes because I know at any point if can creep up on me and go bang.. It's a start and I really need to start somewhere so hopefully this is a new start, one thing I know is that it will not be easy.. Can't let my guard down need to try keep clear head and think positive..

Hi Kitbag,

Well done for your post, and also for making it to your first GA meeting. I’m glad to read that it wasn’t intimidating as you’ve thought, and that you met people you can also identify with. That really sounds encouraging on your part, and like you said, it advisable to do what it takes to stay focused in your recovery.

Try to be patient with yourself; take it step by step, and by following our advice on strategies, reading from the forum, and by putting the required boundaries in place, you’ll soon begin to notice the positive changes to your gambling problem.

Maybe, you’ll like to contact our free phone Helpline on: 0808 8020 133, and speak to one of our advisers for further help and support. An adviser can refer you to 12 sessions of free counselling, if you think that would help you to stop gambling.

We can also sign post you to various charitable organisations if we think you’ll benefit from their services.

We have so much to offer you in terms of help and support, and I encourage you to take this opportunity and reach out for it.

Pls. note that our lines are open everyday from 8.00am to midnight.

Thanks once again for your post, and pls. keep posting.

Best wishes,

Beatrice

Cheers thanks for your advice admin , well first day done lots of urges to be honest but made it through feel weird but good for achieving this so well done myself. Next challenge tomorrow start again and just take it slowly.. Thanks to everyone on hear ive read a lot stuff on here over the last few months and heard some crazy stuff that I really can relate to... It's a crazy world and the gamblers in U.S. Are even crazier no normal person could ever understand and that's what makes it hard for the ones who love us and the ones that are around us.. Well good luck to everyone 1 day is a start and I've made x good one today....

Hi Kitbag,

Totally understand where you are coming from, trouble is the price of living is sky-high. Don't blame yourself at all, this government has got it all wrong at the moment. They are very clever at branding us all ill!! The truth is it is a bloody mess and corruption is at its best when the gambling laws are so relaxed that it creates a huge vacuum of money for the rich and greedy!!

Just remember the gambling industry preys on the 'poor and needy'.....The profit always goes to the 'rich and greedy'...No one gets their hands dirty....I see it as a war!! Keep fighting!

Lottery may as well be sold at bookies too...

I can offer you something very valuable right now! Support!!...
