Hello everyone,

after 8 years of gambling, over £300,000 lost, No Friends And no social life, I've decided this is my time to try everything to stop, ive tried before and failed many times, the longest was around 4 months. I have self exclusions in multiple bookies and land base casinos, gambling blocks on my computer and phone  but i still find ways around these to gamble, my latest casino is crypto, i can buy with cash of people/crypto atm to gamble with, if that doesn't work i gamble with "game skins" that are worth real money just to get rid of the itch, my addiction is really bad and im only 24, its ruined my life so far, no friends, no social life, i only leave my house to gamble, all i think about is gambling nothing else, its a real struggle! hopefully this is the start to a brighter future, im going to be around the forum chatting to everyone and try get as much help as possible! sorry of this doesnt make sense, im not good at writing long things lol

The door to gambling is always a easy push and if you want the door to recovery your going to have to try hard to pull that door open before walking through it. It’s hard and not easy but congratulations for making It here and wanting to stop for good. I can probably find a easy way to gamble with a million blocks in place to stop me… we all ways find away to push the easy door to self destruction.

keep coming back here and use the tools provided, engage with others and build up with phycological barriers too.

I hope this helps and don’t forget ‘you are not alone, keep coming back through the hard door to freedom.

just for today I will not gamble, and try once again to count to infinity.

I am a compulsive gambler and it's costing me my pension and my children's inheritance.

I find myself taking a break on one site only to register on a other and start all over again

It's too easy and I feel I'll never stop until l myself do something about it

Hello RandomAddict123 (perhaps you would consider a nickname kinder to yourself?),

Thank you for sharing your story,

Well done for already putting some blocks in place as you describe. Just to be thorough we would recommend as many in combination as is appropriate for you but could include (if you are in the UK) www.gamstop.co.uk a software blocker such as GamBan and a banking block.

With regards to trading ‘skins’ or other online assets within computer games perhaps disconnecting your payment details from your computer log-ins so that is a ‘drag’ and it makes it much more effort/slower to do so. Some people have decided to move onto only playing games that you cannot buy new levels/assets/loot boxes to help them pass the time without doing ‘gambling-type behaviours’.

Please feel free to give us a call or webchat to the Helpline on 0808 8020 133 for a 1-2-1 discussion about any support that may help you uncover and address any possible underlying reasons driving/maintaining the gambling.

Best Wishes,

Louise
