Glad I joined up to GamBan or I'd be in trouble

Today is day 7 GF. I thought I was doing okay but tonight realised I'm not as I started googling non-UK gambling sites. I tried to access a couple with the thought of joining up and playing slots. Thankfully my joining GamBan on day 1 prevented me from joining them, I'm annoyed at Gamban for preventing me but more so at myself for trying to join. Have I learned nothing??

We put the barriers in place to help us think and avoid destroying ourselves.

You have time to think about other things and not gambling

@dave101 thanks for the reply. This is much harder than I thought it was going to be. I'd only been playing for 6 months or so but can honestly say I was hooked from day 1.

Day 7 is still early—cravings are normal. The fact that GamBan stopped you means your safety net works, and you’re still gamble-free. Feeling angry or disappointed is just the craving talking, not failure. You’ve learned a trigger and stayed in control—that’s real progress.

unfortunately at  only day 7 you are still in the gambling frenzy state of mind put every imagineable block in place including moses from the hell hole slums of bookies shops and blocking your online bank card from depositing to gambling sites and visualise the s**m gambling ceos lying on a sunny beach drinking pina colados which you paid for whilst you are on the beans and toast for the next 4 weeks

@g3y6a5jbds thanks for the response. I had to google what Moses is. I suppose I'm fortunate that I've never played in any bookies, only ever online, but I do take your point. The only other form of gambling I did apart from online slots was buying a couple of lottery tickets when the jackpot was a big one. I've blocked my bankcard to gambling sites so I suppose that will prevent me buying the odd lottery ticket as well. Funnily enough, I'd never really thought of that as gambling although technically it is. I like the idea of visualising the gambling CEOs living it up - and thinking that I'm no longer going to contribute to their lifestyles.

The gambling bosses don't care where it comes from as they are the dregs of humanity funding their lifestyle off gambling addicts.like us don't for one second think they care about you or me its all about the greed to fill their pockets and if in the extremely unlikely chance you do win on online slots don't for one second think they are going to pay you out as they will want your bank details source of wealth birth certificate photo id utility bills and last but not least erase any bet you have ever funded from a post office box in Gibraltar

I’ve learned that in order to stop gambling, you need to build barriers between yourself and the addiction. For me, this means self-exclusion from the places I used to go most often, handing over financial control to someone I trust, attending therapy, and being open with my family about my situation. I also only keep the money I need for daily essentials. When I follow these steps, things become so much easier. If I rely only on willpower, the addiction eventually tricks me back in. Gambling is a chronic illness, almost harder than drug addiction, but it’s not impossible to overcome. We just need to build strong barriers and stay committed to the decisions we’ve made.
