Hi, I have just joined the site. The last time I had a bet was 21 April. My favourite things to bet on are horse racing and the football. I rarely place any other bets apart from the odd cricket or tv novelty bet. I would say my addiction is with horse racing. I have got myself into debt with gambling before, was lent the money to sort myself out, and have almost racked up the same amount again 🙁 Horse racing is a massive passion in my family but I'm the one who takes it to extremes with my stakes. Some days I'll tell myself I'll be sensible and have a tiny bet as it's the only thing that I find exciting but it always seems to spiral if I'm winning I'll increase my stake to make even more, If I'm losing I'll increase my stake to recover my losses. The trouble with horse racing is the amount of it and the frequency of the races. Footy bets I do on a Saturday mainly and I do accumulators so if that loses there isn't really anymore you can do apart from the evening game whereas horses are from like 1pm til 9pm just constant. I really want to stop gambling my money away 🙁

Hello Secret81,

Welcome to our Forum. It sounds like you have developed an addiction to betting on horses and football. If you want to stop gambling, which we recognise it is not an easy thing to do on your own, it may help to contact GamCare. We're open from 8am until midnight, 7 days a week. You're welcome to contact us on our freephone 0808 8020 133 and talk to an advisor about what you are going through.

Alternatively, you can use the Netline:
