Hope im not being nosey but im interested in how people got hooked on gambling.

I started about six months back on online bingo at that point it was about twenty quid a week, then slots came along and it was £20 a day, then one day last week i spent £170 in one day - the most ever in one day - how much was everyone spending ? how did you start?

i started small a £2.00 bet on roulette on the fotb's in 2009, i ended up placing £100.00 @ spin on roulette in bookies, and £500.00 a number on roulette on-line. Consequently I am now virtually broke, lost a life times savings to gambling, cry most nights in bed never sleeping properly. Gambling is a progressive addication, you would do well to read a lot on here and quit now.

Im sorry Lost my life, you sound really unhappy, i agree i think i need to quit which is why i sought out this forum cos i know its getting a grip and i am finding it a help, i have locked myself out of sites, and im restricted on another, why oh why do we think we can turn the losses around when time and time again we lose, im sure in other areas of life we'd learn we are not getting anywhere and stop, i hope things turn around for you and i will heed your warning and try and quit x

Hi Rachell I have been gambling on and off for about 20 years, but most seriously the last 10, started off slots in pubs and social bingo really then when internet came out and I met my husband and he bought me a computer I discovered online Bingo and then the dreaded slots, thats what hooked me slots and I have simply lost count of how much money I have lost over the years, it is a losing game, very rare someone gets really lucky and even if they do I should imagine it all goes back in. lost is right quit now before it gets much much worse. I had a breakdown Saturday night spent the night in tears absolutely terrrified I would lose everything because its got so bad, if I hadnt stopped now it would be I would lose my marriage, home everything. People on here are great and so supportive and reading people's stories are a good way to warn you off. You've done the right thing self excluding etc, try the blocks as well, I wish I had, best wishes

Gambling is a horrible illness like an alcoholic trying to quit. I'm just starting my recovery now and so glad I am it's a hard and long path to freedom but with the help of people on here and blocks in place you can do it, good luck 🙂
