Hello everyone, I'm not really new here I have been gambling away again, really want to have another crack at knocking it on the head. I owe out around £2000 and would like some advice on paying it off and controlling my money better when it is cleared. I do not get the urge to gamble every day now which is better than I used to be but I am still disastrous when I do have money on me. I'll lay out my debts and my monthly income and any advice you guys could give me will be greatly appreciated.

Loan- £400

Overdraft-£500

Credit card-£800

Very account-£200

Monthly income around-£1500 I work away from home a lot so it's not a case of pay it all of in one and have a c**P month because I need money for essentials. I am also going on holiday for two weeks in September so will need money for that. Once the debt is cleared I need to be able to control my spending habits more, what do you guys use to control your money and how would you begin to pay off the debt??? Thanks H.

Hello Harryh123,

It sounds like your post is essentially requesting advice about managing your debt and money. Some of our forum users have posted positive feedback about using free professional debt advice services like the National Debtline 0808 808 4000, StepChange 0800 138 1111 or PayPlan 0800 280 2816. The GamCare website has a webpage with links to sources of other types of help; http://www.gamcare.org.uk/about-us/links-other-support-agencies for example money advice: https://www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk/en and debt advice: http://www.talkaboutdebt.co.uk/

You might be aware of some of the arrangements that our forum members report using to reduce risk of spending on gambling by limiting their instant access to their money. There is more guidance here: http://www.gamcare.org.uk/get-advice/what-can-you-do/finance-and-debt-management

Please do feel welcome to call us on our freephone 0808 8020 133 if you'd like more support for your recovery from problem gambling.

Take care,

Forum admin.
