Hi all, new to the forum. Ok...... The problem started when I was 16, I started playing fruit machines at my brothers pub having a cheeky gamble when I shouldn't have!! Anyway my life's savings at that time were £1000..... That went within a year just on bandits!!! I dabbled in and out of poker sites and casinos from that point onwards, until I won big in 2011. I deposited £80 on an online casino account that I was a regular at called Royal Vegas Casino, I played jacks or better poker a lot and that night I hit the Royal Flush.... £8000.00 win in one hand!! Being slightly drunk and greedy at the time I went onto Mermaids Millions slots playing £75 per spin..... Then it happened, in rolled £42,000.00 win from tripled free spins. I couldn't believe it, at last I had won big and I could give up gambling!!!! As if....... I invested half of it and paid off my debts with the rest. I had £20,000.00 sat in an an online bond which I thought ''great, it's safe from me'' but........ I withdrew four lots of £5,000.00 over the space of a year and it was all gone. What the hell was I doing!!?? From that point on I have found myself ''chasing'' the money back. NEVER chase your losses, especially that big!! In 2007 I went bankrupt due to gambling and I have borrowed and hurt so many people in the past from gambling and only until now have I stopped, cut my losses and run!! I now have two children and a wife to look after and they are worth way more than winning any amount of money. I nearly lost them all recently when I racked up another £14,000.00 of gambling debt. They have given me one more chance, it's time to stop and turn my life around once and for all!!!!

Good luck with that Guiseppy. Stopping gambling seems to be easy for some and a living hell for others. I'm in the latter category but there is a lot of help and advice available to make it easier.

Best advice i got was to start reading other diaries especially those that are taking positive action to keep away from gambling.

Hi Guiseppy

I've won big on a few occations like yourself over the years. Never kept it, chased my losses, always wanted more. Was always in and out of debt. Over 10 years I had of that life. Stress, anxiety, loss of self confidence, depression and all the other stuff. What kind of life is that for a few second of glory when I did win.

Welcome to the road of recovery. Pay your debts off, try not to think about your losses or what could of been. Like Tri said, just try and learn as much as you can.

All the best, Matt
