It would be nice but let's not fool ourselves as we got no chance this would stop this evil terrible addiction! It would lose millions for the government! It's like me doing one now with f**s! We all know what they do to us and also it cost pennies to make so brings in millions for the government! The only way you would have a chance to wipeout gambling is to do a petition with the people working for the evil gambling industry! Maybe they don,t know the damage it does to people and be shocked to find out there nothing more then a drug dealer in the street! Without employees the gambling industry with not survive and that's a fact!

Heather, I applaud you 🙂

It may well be a pipe dream as addiction runs way deeper than the gambling industry but you are doing something that is giving you a focus & recovery is about making changes.

I'm waiting for my email 🙂

Thanks for your comments guys, Londoner, thank you also for your comment, I am not quite sure where you are coming from though, if you are suggesting that by doing a petition I am feeling sorry for myself then you are greatly mistaken, I did the petition because after reading a lot of stories on here I wanted to look into it further, there is currently a petition running to ban advertising, so no point going down that line. One common factor I have seen throughout this site is people saying I self excluded but managed to find another site.......if a national database was set up for cg's to declare they wanted to be permanently excluded from all casinos and sites, even bookies then it is surely a positive thing, more needs to be done by government, yes the overall responsibility lines with the gambler them selves, but support and recognition that it is an addiction is needed. The signatures are being added slowly, but everyday. Whether people choose to sign or not is completely upto them, all I would say is you are on here for help, if this petition was to be debated in government and something was done then it it another piece of help in your recovery right !?

Heather I think it's a brill idea and I've signed it. Anything that can help either raise awareness of how bad this addiction is or helps but up blocks to addicts has to be a good thing. I'm writing to parliament myself to present evidence that I collected over a years period on various online gambling sites, they pray on people with addiction, they lull you into the addiction slowly and yes our own greed plays a part. Most people's stories start off with they had a big or decent win and thought wow this is easy money, the industry does that to draw you in. I' m early days in recovery and I now know I have to draw a line under the losses and move on from that part as it just eats you away but I can same as Heather try and help other people from this awful addiction that the gambling industry sees their bank balance swell!

Anon, thank you and the very best of luck with your letter to parliament, you are right the online games draw you with dangling carrots of look you could win the jackpot, you could win free spins etc etc, it has become too easy to gamble these days, I was talking to one of my bosses at work as I have told them all there what is going on, they would know something was up so figured may as well get it out in the open. He commented how his young sons found the gambling adverts to be funny and enjoyed watching them, this really disturbs me. As I said previously we the gambler ultimately need to take responsibility for our actions, but the government need to stop feeding off the vulnerable, they have done things about smoking and drink, more is needed to be done regarding gambling, if there is anything I can do to help please let me know 🙂

Hi mum, thank you I do appreciate it, it won't stop the gambling, I think only a higher authority would be able to do that and with all the money the government earn I am not sure it will ever be banned, I am just hoping it will help people trying to fight their addiction, take one element of temptation out of their control x

Hi all yes the link has been removed admin said they did not encourage political activism so I guess I will have to find a different way of promoting it, I am well thank you have not gambled for 2 weeks, went to the doctors yesterday to get some help as was feeling very low, spoke to hubby today and the conversation was very positive so I now hold out new hope of a reconciliation
