Done the same myself time & time again, need to face it you are never going to see that money again & take whatever steps you can to have no access to betting sites, if carry on it will only get worse, I've been there, just started taking steps to get out of it myself

don't know exact amount exactly but it runs into tens of thousands over the years, the chasing part is the worst bit we lose control altogether

You're not helping yourselves by comparing notes about how much you've chased and lost. It leads to thoughts along the lines of it's not that bad, he's done it, he's worse off than me. Which leads to denial.

Actually, it is that bad because the gambling's out of control. Move the focus to avoiding the next bet.

The only way to go forward is not be to look back. The money is gone, but if youre working you can get back on your feet. If you have debts you cannot deal with then contact a debt management company such as Step Change.
Comparing wins and losses does nothing but fuel the feeling of loss and, for some give false hope that a big win is around the corner. We never walk away with a big win and, if we do it's not long before it's gambled away.
It's an all absorbing addiction and if you read the diaries you will see yourself...try not to make the same mistakes a lot of us long time CGs have.
Best wishes in your recovery.

Please take the advice from annie67, if i had taken the advice given to me on this forum 6 years ago when first registered i would still not be chasing losses and have lost thousands more, mainly taken from my business. I am now attemping to abstain forever and no longer submit myself to the pain and torture this idiotic lifestyle causes. I have got to accept that gambling has beat me, be all and end all of it. Being stubborn and not accepting defeat has caused 6 years of chasing losses. There were winning's but they always went back in, i was never satisfied with what i had.

Today i admit defeat for the first time. The days of obsessing about getting my losses back are gone. I've accepted this and have started putting my efforts into working extra hours to get my business and personal finances back on track (20 hours of work this weekend is a good start).

Do all you can to stop yourself now, blocking software, self exclusion, read other people's threads and diary's which will help you. If you continue things will just get worse it is impossible to win because we cannot stop. Forget about the losses, dont make the mistake i have.

I wish you all the best.

Very good advice from all wish I'd come on here years ago for advice, once you lose money & start chasing it takes over your life & it's all downhill from there

Just got to accept the money is gone, might be hard for a while until you get your finances back on track but chasing losses by places more bets will not help, even if you got lucky & got a win it will not be the end of it as at that stage you have lost control & do not want to stop

I ask myself every day how can I have been so stupid but it was it is I've come to terms with accepting the losses, I just know I cannot place any more bets, not just for fear of losing any more the stress & anxiety that comes with it, it's no fun at all it destroys lifes

I'm from the North so pretty tight with my money, proper cash anyway, this internet nonsense is too easy to get into a mess, I know I've messed up but I've only hurt myself & am determined to put it behind me as hard as it may be
