Thanks kirbs it means a lot.
early days its hard as i had a few relapses but if you can be strong it does get easier mate.
I'll keep an eye on your progress mate .
Remember the triangle. Time location and money. Take one of these away and you can't gamble and you will be a winner for ever.
Good luck
Steve

Hiya kirbs welcome yes it's possible to turn things round but you've got to want to, rather than need to that's what I've learnt...put as my blocks in place as you can ie a software blocker like gam block or similar on your computers and get as much support as you can.

Does any of your family know that you have a problem?

Hiya

The only way to start sorting your/our problem is to f**k them at the soucre, u should read the sticky post in this forum on ways on how not to gamble again found it very useful, might make you think twice on what you are just about to do, and what could happen.

Hey Kirbs, congratulations on making the decision to try again. You can beat this, we're all here supporting each other. I think most of us have fallen off the wagon at some point - I managed to stop the online slots for about 3 months last year and decided to play again at a casino 'just for fun' doing the free demo slots but predictably started depositing again, and losing vast amounts rapidly. Still, I'm here now, a week gambling free now and starting to make sense of things again. So, best of luck in your recovery.

Hey kirbs

I've been checking on here now n again to see if you've been on. I had a feeling that you may have got back into it cos you'd gone quiet! I've done the same and still hiding it from family even though I swore I wasn't giving these robbers any more money! And it's not like I haven't won anything. The problem I have is withdrawing, I turned 2 lots of £50 into over £500 each and both times I replayed it. I've got £63 to last me 2 weeks, 2 dogs to feed and myself, the dogs come first though lol. As long as they are fed I can live on cheese on toast n baked beans ha ha. I've shut down one of my bingo accounts so far and not missing it so gonna shut 2 main other ones today. The money, time, location thing is definitely the key, when I have all 3 I'm stuffed, I have no money in the bank at the moment and it's not bothering me one bit about gambling. I'm gonna look for a self help book for my iPad and try to concentrate on reading it. I hope you are good and keeping a smile inside 🙂 keep posting kirbs! Speak soon

Jane

The triangle that is talked about on here is good practice as barriers are crucial. However without the desire to stop gambling it is totally useless.

I think barriers are essential when you first stop but I totally agree that the only way to end it long term is to lose the will to gamble. Changing your mindset towards gambling is so important. For instance, realising that not gambling is a good thing. Realising that gambling causes problems and doesn't solve them.

And I'm not preaching because I have found it as hard to stop as anyone but I knew I couldn't continue any longer.

well done for coming back kirbs. dont give up if you punt get back on here as quickly as possible

like others have said to stop gambling you realy have to want to. scratch cards are made to intice people to punt. dont forget the people who make them arnt the gamblers but use us to make money

good luck on your journey. , its not easy to stop gambling but the rewards are massive for yourself, family and partner

Hi Janey sorry for late reply haven't been on much lately feel pretty bad tbh I keep slipping up! Nothing too serious just little tenners here and there but I suppose that is a massive improvement from where I was, I am having 2 or 3 gamble free days in a row, how's your recovery going?

Hey kirbs, just read through your posts. I tried everything to stop and kept slipping up. Reached a point where I couldn't take anymore and told most people around me. This was the best thing I ever did, as now I don't have the compulsion to lie about my situation, which was half the problem. The other thing was restricting my access to money, no money no gambling. Anyway good luck with your recovery, complete abstination is the best way toward.

Hi kirbs good to hear from you 🙂 I'm pretty much the same myself tbh. I closed a load of accounts but still have managed to blow £100 this week on other sites. P*ssed off with myself yet again. The positive is that I haven't spent all my money and don't feel like doing so either. It's still early days for us though and if you are managing a few days inbetween that's really good. Hopefully soon it'll be a couple of weeks. It's harder than I thought it would be. I've also found myself playing free spin slots, what a waste of a couple of hours lol, totally pointless just like playing for real only cheaper. Hey ho, we'll get there in the end 🙂 keep well n speak soon!
