Hi, new here.

Came here because I realised my gambling has got worse.

How it started

I thought slots looked cool and thought I would give it a go. Never spent too much money back then and it would be every month or possibly never. Fast forward a few years, I got my first job and took that opportunity to gamble just a little more but still never too much.

However this is where is starts to go wrong

I lost my job, and didn’t even get my full holiday pay from that company after they told me repeatedly I would get it all. I was angry that they lied to me. and thought gambling would make up the difference for what I should have got. I have been panicking about finances, and even though I have a new job. I still find it hard to stay away from online slots. Since I left my last job, I’ve lost money mainly because I had no job to go to. I get angry and upset that I have done that to myself. And often cry myself to sleep because I gamble late so that no one in my family knows.

Honesly I have had enough, and I need to do something about it. I never thought I had a problem, but with the job loss (which I didn’t expect to lose) it has got considerably worse. I hate it and I’ve just tried to shut all these sites off by any means possible.

So yeah, I’m in a dark place at the moment, even with a new job now, it will still be a while before I get paid and I’m trying to look forward to the future as November is a big month for me.

I’m trying to be as open as possible about my gambling so I can be honest with myself, and I really don’t want to back to gambling now and trying to quit for good.

Hi Toastyjoker,

Welcome to the forum and well done on posting and telling us a bit about your story.

Hope you are continuing to read the forum and perhaps have found advice on how to help yourself to limit your gambling activity such as signing up to Gamstop and installing blocking software onto the devices you use to access the gambling sites.

If you would like to speak to an adviser in confidence please call our free phone number 0808 8020 133 or you can also contact us on our netline. We are now available 24/7.

We can also refer you to free one to one treatment for your gambling problems if there is a service in your local area or by telephone and online if not.

Best wishes
