Playing online slots I have managed to get myself in a lot of family and loan debt. I'm in about 5000 to my nan but the main problem is im in 2000 debt to a payday loan company which I cant afford to pay next week and I'm already 3 months late. Today I gambled 50 online and made myself just over 2000 which I could have used to pay off the debt and start my life gamble free but I spent it. My heart was telling me to stop but I just kept clicking. I can't even get another loan to pay the payday one and pay back monthly because my credit is so bad from missing payments. I need advice on how to get this 200 I have a job but I also have a family to look after which uses 99% of my income. Il do anything im so desperate and I cant ask my nan for anymore. I really want to stop gambling but I feel like continuing to hope I make that money and try to stick to it is the only option I have.

Hi AROB47,

Thanks for your post, and welcome to the forum. It sounds like you're in a pretty desperate situation there, and that gambling has caused a lot of havoc in your life. At the moment your priority seems to be managing your debt, so here's a link to StepChange ( http://www.stepchange.org/ ), which is a debt relief charity and would be able to advise you on that. I can't promise they can help, but they're probably your best option for how to deal with your debt more effectively.

It's clear that gambling isn't going to help you, though, or clear your debt, and stopping that also needs to be a priority. If you really want to help yourself, then downloading blocking software could really benefit you. Programs like Gamblock or Betfitler prevent any gambling sites from opening on your computer, and a lot of gamblers find them to be lifesavers. For about the price of what you gambled yesterday, you could set up protection online that would really help you.

Of course, getting individual counselling might help you most of all, and we have partner agencies in many parts of the country that provide free counselling to gamblers and their family members. If that sounds interesting to you, or if you'd like to chat about anything else, please feel free to get in touch with us on either the Helpline (0808 8020 133) or the Netline from 8am to midnight any day of the week.

Hope this helps,

Travis
