My life is living with parents, earning a 40 hours a week wage with safe job. It might look good to everyone else, but it's not for me. I've got a pay day loans which are coming out of my ears. I've thank god got them under control through a debt management plan. But Tonight I've made ultimate mistake. I.e money that was suppose to be paying dmp, has been stuck on roulette table. Plus I've been living by borrows off family friends for months. Now I'm 7 days after my payday and I'm oweing dmp money, family and friends my whole next wage. I will say I hate online gambling, but I love live betting, I turn Down girls to keep betting.

Hi ryan. I think many on here will appreciate your position. Debts and payday loans to contend with. I know I do and it's all to easy in them scenarios to sometimes see gambling as a way out, I'll win the money I should be keeping to one side back and more. We never consider losing and what we will do. But you are there now and I've been there. However, as hard as it is you have to resolve to get back up and carry on. You clearly want to sort yourself out, otherwise you would not have set up the DMP. Get in touch with them and explain your position (ie in terms of not having the payment) if it's with a charity like stepplan I'm sure it will have happened before. Secondly what support are you getting with your gambling. Do your parents know, can they support in terms of taking control of your money? Have you considered counselling from gamcare? Finally, you need to get some blocking software for your PC or if it was an actual casino, self exclude. All the best Ryan, keep going.

Hey Swanryan,

You don't say how old you are, but it can't be ideal living with your folks when you want to have an independent life. Nor can it be easy to be shackled to a DMP or working a 40 hour week, unless you absolutely LOVE your career (and let's face it not many of us, me included, do). So it's not surprising you seek escape and forgetting, a chance to get rich, with gambling. Not to excuse it, but to understand it.

That being said, you know as well as I do that gambling only makes life worse. We can't win because we can't stop. Even the buzz from a rare euphoric win only lasts so long, and is soon replaced by the grinding guilt, fear and self-loathing of the inevitable loss. Quit it. Stop. No more. Cease and desist! Make today mean something by truly 'fessing up to your parents about your issue. If they love you, (and I'm sure they do) then they'll want to protect you and help you move forward.

Best wishes to you on your recovery. Once you choose to psychologically draw a line in the sand and say 'NO MORE', all the other important but day-to-day problems become easier to sort out.
