Hello, I have decided to give GamCare another go as I have relapsed again. I turned 40 year old this year & have a serious obsession with FOBT’s whether it be winning or losing I love being on the machines…obviously prefer winning but it’s wooden dollars as eventually I give it them back anyway!
I'm absolutely skint & my anxiety with money is higher than ever. I am having to work 7 days a week to fulfil my addiction, something I didn’t want to be doing at my age now. I really need to stop gambling, I’m going to end up with nothing & it’s worrying me. I’m scared, it’s got a real hold on me & I can’t seem to stop!
Hopefully I can really have a good go this time round but it’s all I have known for a good 15 years. Dread to think how much I have lost over the years, put it this way, I should be mortgage free. Wish me luck!
Hi MJG
Well done posting and reaching out , relapses are very frustrating and difficult but also very much part of the recovery process so try not to be too down on yourself.
It might be a good idea to speak with an organisation called step change regarding finances - they offer free independent money advice and can help you build a plan . The number is 0800 138 1111
Please feel free to contact the GamCare Helpline on 0808 8020 133 or Netline to explore the additional support available to you. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week if you would like to talk to one of the GamCare HelpLine advisers.
Stay strong and take things one day at a time , you are never alone with this.

Didn't even realise FOBT was still a thing thought government had pretty much put an end to them with the £2 stake limit thing
I remember having a problem with them machines over 10 years ago absolute nightmare would lose £100 in about 5 mins
Evening, yeah they’re absolutely still a thing…you can still lose £100’s in a short space of time.
they have got such a hold over me at the minute. The government rule was predominantly on the roulette part of the machines to show they was doing something. Anyone who plays on them regularly knows that’s only a small % of the machines! Slot machines are still a killer! Awful things!
Take it easy man, fill the voids what u would have by normally playing on those things.
Try & give yourself a good work life balance, fair enough I do overtime at work for the extra dollars which does help but rest & downtime is important as well.
Have u gone to GA? If not get yourself to a meeting ASAP, I’ve had several relapses in the past but I’m 3 months gamble free & gone back to GA, best thing I’ve ever done.
My thoughts are with u & good luck.
