Hi this is my first time speaking out about my problem as I always thought it wasn't bad but I now realise gambling took hold of my life.
For about 7 years now I have gambled and it just got worse n worse It started with football then horse to dogs and gaming terminals. I really want to stop this as constantly I am broke and want to be a better husband and father. I am always stressed out and down any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Hello Wonkydoodle,
Welcome to the Forum. I hope you get some feedback by other members here.
Well done for taking this first step of reaching out as dealing with problem gambling on your own can be ineffective. We provide a lot of support, including free counselling. Also, you can read on this page about things you can do to help yourself :

I would encourage you to get in touch with GamCare and speak to an adviser about it.
Best wishes,

Hello,
You need to start by getting blocks in place. You need to remove any access you have to gambling. Self exclude from bookies/online. Speak to someone, get it out of your system and get it fully out in the open. Handing over financial control always takes a lot of pressure off. You need to accept help, you need support, we can't beat this alone. Im sure like me you have tried to quit at points before now.
You need to take this seriously or this will contuine and more than money you would have lost more time to this illness that could be so much better spent being in the moment with your family!
Keep active on here and ask what you need to, people will help you if you just ask for it.
Good luck
Thanks for getting back it helps to talk to others. This is second day without a bet or gamble and I will take all on board to try beat the addiction. I will give this my all.
