I'm sure a lot of you know the feeling.. when a switch clicks in your head that takes over your rational thought processes and takes you to Admiral or the bookies.. Well mine just switched again, for the 600th time and here I am a couple of hundred quid down and feeling like s**t AGAIN..

I've had problems ever since I was 14 and I've really had enough! So it was pretty much here or off a bridge!

First time ever admitting in one of these groups that I've got a problem, I'm a gambling addiction and I hate myself because of it!

So hi,  that's me..

Hi @tigers474,

It sounds like a very frustrating and painful situation to be in. I would like to say well done for making the decision for coming on here, it must have taken a lot of courage to make this step today.

Now that you are here, I’m sure your post will be met with encouragement and support. Your story resonates with many others on the forum, so you are not alone in this.

Sounds like you have been through a lot in your life and no wonder you have been feeling like this. I hope this step is the beginning of the chapter where you can allow yourself to heal and get the help you deserve.

Do you have any gambling blocks in place? I will encourage you give our helpline a call on 0808 8020 133 and our 1:1 Livechat. We are open 24/7. Our helpline advisors will listen to what’s going on for you and talk you through options available to help with stopping gambling.

I hear you are feeling quite low now, perhaps you might want to give Samaritans a call on 116 123 or HOPELineUK from Papyrus if you are under 35, on 0800 068 4141. They offer emotional support and advice.

Stay strong and keep posting.

Best wishes,

Vanessa

Thanks Vanessa, I have no online blocks in place, but I've just organised a 12 month ban from all local bookmakers and Admiral shops here

Hello,

Glad you have go on to take some positives step to ban yourself from all local bookmakers and Admiral shops.

For online blocks,  There are  a few tools you can put in place to restrict your access online betting sites.

1. You might want look at Gamstop to self exclude yourself from all UK licensed betting sites and apps. You can register online and is completely free to use.

2. A lot of banks offer a functionality where they can block gambling transactions on your card. Might be worth putting this additional block in place. Information on this: https://www.gamcare.org.uk/self-help/money-management/#banks

3. You can access a free promotion for Gamban from us when you contact our helpline on 0808 8020 133 and our 1:1 Livechat . Gamban is a blocking software that blocks all betting sites worldwide on your devices.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,

Vanessa
