Evening, very similar problem other than I have just hit gambling. I phoned the helpline on this webpage and they offer a variety of (free) services such as 1-1 or group counciling. I spoke over the online chat and found it very useful. Good luck.

Hi Style 1982,

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for your post.

Thankfully, you’ve come to the right organisation for help with your gambling problem, and well done for taking the necessary steps to stop gambling. We’ll like to make you aware that gambling problem is difficult to stop it by yourself, most people need professional help to overcome it.

Gamcare is ready to listen and advise you on strategies to help you to overcome your problematic gambling. We can also refer you for 12 sessions of free counselling, and nearest to where you live, if you think that would help you to stop gambling.

What you didn’t state in your post is the type of gambling that you do; whether you gamble online or, the bookies, or both.

In case you do gamble at the bookies, then I’ll advise you to go for Self Exclusion from all the shops that you gamble from. Pls. opt for the maximum time ban or, even indefinite ban.

Try and read the postings from our Forum for more strategies on stopping. I suggest that you read about the following internet blocking software, and install the one that you think would be most beneficial to you. They’ll stop you from accessing gambling sites. They are:- Gamblock, Net Nanny, and Betfilter.

I think it would be to your advantage to contact our free phone Helpline on: 0808 8020 133, and speak to one of our advisers about your gambling problem.

Thanks again for your post, and pls. post as often as you can.

Best wishes,

Beatrice.
