Good morning,

I recently have felt so much better about myself and life in general and want to work hard on my well-being.  I am taking it slowly, so I don't feel overwhelmed or anxious.

This month I am focusing on honesty and step 1 of the 12 step programme.  So I have slowly gone through the questions and answered them truthfully and wrote down my answers and after doing so I feel really horrible about myself, down and very sad, guilty about my life in general.  Can I ask if this is a normal response to the start of the program?  I guess it will help me in the long run?

Have a lovely day.

Kylie.

Hi Kylie

If you can find a sponsor then it's much easier. To do the steps through GA you need to get a copy of the AA big book. If you go to one of the online UK meetings on gamblersinrecovery you can ask about sponsorship and someone will help you.

I'm on step 4 and yes it's all about opening up the past but steps 5 to 9 are about learning to put it all behind you.

Just from my point of view, I wouldn't have got to step 4 without my sponsor and his guidance. Its guidance not being taught how to do it but the 12 steps are a life changer. I've never spoken to anyone who has done them and said otherwise.

Thanks Stuart, I am certainly thinking of trying to find a Sponsor and feel GA meetings online would be the best for me - rather than in person (at the moment).

Thanks again.

Hi Kylie

Foley Street online on Wednesdays is good which I think is 1130 ISH. If you go on the website you can find them all for the next seven days and they repeat each week
