Have managed to stop for 2 months and i feel the happiest i have been in a long time! I am still skint as i am paying off debt over the last few months but i feel so much better that Gambling is not a part of my daily routine. It will always be with me but by changing my lifestyle i have managed to stop my urges.

I hope that it can inspire other people to be able to beat this horrible illness. It will take all your strength but if you really want something that bad you can achieve it!

I wish everyone the best of luck 🙂

It is the urges I need to find a way of stopping. You know that feeling that comes over you and you just have to gamble. Hell and high water cannot stop you. This is such a crippling affliction and only those who suffer can fully understand.

Your doing well sean.

I really feel this site helps and I've been on it for hours the last two days. If it wasn't this site then it would be a betting site for hours but the difference is I've not lost anything.

Keep talking on here and supporting each other

Thank you for the kind words guys!

In my opinion the longer i have gone without Gambling the less i actually miss doing it. And think about all those wasted hours and money on something so stupid!

It will be impossible for anyone to do it on their own however. He will only be able to start getting over this horrible illness when he actually admits that he has a problem. It doesn't make you a bad person because you have an addiction. Society portrays you in a way just because you have an addiction but actually have no idea about it at all! I think this is why less people are actually honest about their gambling addiction.

Are you around the London area? The Gambling clinic in SOHO was one of the most helpful places i have ever been. I would certainly try and get into contact with them as i found it very helpful. I wear a black band on my wrist sounds silly but have had it on my wrist 2 months and have not gambled. By having it there all the time it reminds me what i am working towards and how far i have come.

How often does he gamble and what does he gamble on? If i can help even 1 person try and beat this illness then it shows this forum works! it has helped me more then i can comprehend.

Actually I'm from the US ... But this site seems for helpful then other sites I was looking at... Yeah he gambles it seems like everyday now... He does mainly sports betting... He's starting to yell and get angry almost violent if I keep him from gambling... I'm at the point when I go to his house I stand by the front door so he don't leave to gamble ... He spent 2 hours on Sunday asking me for $10 to gamble after I said no everytime... That's when he got angry/mean at me .. He called a few friends (all gamblers) and once he got someone to place a bet for him he felt relieved and happy and nice .. He's almost acting bipolar... Unfortunately we live in Las Vegas, nv. So it's hard for him to stay away from casinos and most of his friends gamble and we don't live together so I can't babysit him everyday to help him.... -michelle-
