Fab update, as always, Mr B. Your analysis was of the mini-survey was illuminating and I hope that many of the newer members can take heart from your comments.
Checking in for next week. Taking me longer to type this as I managed to slam a finger (mine unfortunately) in the car door yesterday, so having to type with my nose....
Best wishes to all,

Checking in,, richy244 (M/32/England) still 239 days without a bet, went out last night and spent about a hundred quid tho, first drinks in 2 months! re-connected with some old mates and told them about my gambling problems,, they were shocked but understanding still had to wait by the side of a fruity whilst my mate wasted a few quid.
Evening soldiers!!
Just a last minute post before I head off to sleep! Some really positive posts on the these today - I'm really pleased that the outcome of the volume survey has provoked some thinking and struck a chord with some team members!!
We've already got 10 soldiers at base camps waiting for the safe return of the rest of the troops by Saturday night. 7 of the current group, one returning and 2 new members of the team!! While formal additions will be made on Sunday, welcome to Believer and to mjc74 who have both made the necessary commitments to join us!!
Welcome back ToBeOrNot as well - don't beat yourself up Laura about not checking in on time - it sounds like your priorities are in the right order and you're looking after your family as the number one. I hope for your sake that work gets easier and you can strike the balance between them both. Take care!!
Quick message for richy - it's great to see a chipper post from you mate - was a bit worried about you last week. Hope the hangover isn't too bad and well done for opening up to your mates - it will help no end, but maybe a bit disappointing that one of them played a slot in front of you!!
Baggins.......you make me laugh!! I giggled like a school kid when I read your post - just really appeals to my sense of humor!! Hope your finger is ok!!
This is Mr Brightside checking in for this week - feels good to be able to say that I am gamble free for 210 days!!
Have a good week y'all!!
Mr Brightside
Just checking in - Day 38 Have a great week everyone and stay strong and try to avoid temptation !
Hi Glads dad checking in
Thank you Mr B for yet another mathematical calculation to put Einstein to shame !
Great points and interesting stats... We're well ahead of the returning to gambling stat ( I like that a lot)
Well done to all achieving some kind of personal bests wether 1 day/week/month/quarter yr etc
I can't wait to get to 100 days - to me it's a milestone, a personal goal ( next goal 200 days)
Good luck to all soldiers on the road to a better place.
Hi and welcome to all newbies... it's great here!!
Keep calm and carry on abstaining
Cheers
Hello again. Apologies I didn't repost, I only realised after the deadline. I now know the rules and hopefully can be included for next week. My name is mark and I have really struggled with this awful addiction for the past 2 years, losing around 12k. I am at the point now where I'm in the last chance saloon both financially and with another baby on the way. I mainly bet on football but anything is fair game when im chasing, which is most of the time.
Anyway, I am determined to succeed and this looks like the perfect place to start.
Regards and hope to all.
Hi Mark
Welcome to a safe place.
We are/were all in the same boat as yourself. We all come to the stage where enough is enough, We find ourselves in a corner and the only way is to come out fighting.. Hit your addiction hard and head on - Put up barriers, try to get someone to get you on a budget, weekly is best for me but that's your choice.
Importantly STAY AWAY from triggers
Talk, talk and talk more to friends, councillors and here.
The best advice is always from someone who shares your pain
My experience on here is post lots of posts (especially when the urges hit, there is always someone here to help.
You have taken the most important first step to admit you have a problem.. The road to recovery starts here and good luck on your journey - STAY STRONG
Best regards
Glads Dad
Hi Soldiers,
Checking in on day 97, still from the sunny Netherlands.
Looking foreword to getting home on Friday.
Really can't wait and think a week of will do me good and recharges the batterie lol feeling pretty exhausted.
Gambling isn't a question for me at the time and somehow I have the feeling it never again will be on my mind but I do know that it can always unexpected hit and therefore I will stay focused and and keep telling myself "today is a good day because it is a day without gambling :)"
That's it of me for now.
Respect and love Wolfgang
P.S. Amazing update Mr B. it didn't take me a half year, but still long enough to read through it lol 😉
day 116
checking in this week
Checking in day 39 I think!
just got home from work to find out I got a 2:1 for the second year of my uni work. Starting to wonder what I can achieve when I don't gamble the future should be bright.
Had some thoughts this morning about gambling as parents are away and have left me to manage my money getting food plus to and from work etc.
I won't give in though and will continue to beat this.
Life throws up temptations and situations but have to take responsibility for my actions and keep learning, with each step I overcome the stronger I get and the better I feel,
StoneRoses - a massive 'well done' on your second year success; as you say, the future can only look bright without the black clouds of gambling addiction hanging over you.
Stay strong this week - you're doing great.
Joanna
Checking in on day 330.
The past few weeks have been a massive struggle for me with heartbreaking personal circumstances but I have not turned to gambling and not even thought about it.... how can you if the gambling music is at 1!!
What I'm trying to put across is struggles will continue to come our way but through time you will deal with these head on instead of hiding under the gambling blanket.
On a positive I have a new job which will be a new challenge as totally outwit my comfort zone but can't wait to get stuck in.
Del 🙂
Checking in on day 22.
Happy enough, but no money for nice things like holidays, a wedding or my own place is still a slap in the face at times.... I'm looking forward to looking back 🙂
Checking in - day 26 gamble free.
Delighted to be one of the soldiers!
Keep up the great work.
Not a penny wasted on stupid gambling!!
Checking in from the bar in my hotel waiting for the Brazilian come back to begin lol! I have never seen a game like this, I thought Brazil were poor this year, but didn't expect 5 nil! I have to give myself a huge pat on the back as this World Cup I've not had one urge for a bet.
I hope this week we can break through the half century mark for check ins, I thought we would have hit it weeks ago. For any new members stick at it as this is the place to be. There's loads of positive energy here and lots of support and good advice. Without this challenge I would be in a bookies!
Affected by gambling?
