Checking in for the week on day 157.

The rollercoaster saying sums up a lot of what we been through Mr B. We will all have our ups and downs during this fight it's how we deal with them is important. Before I didn't have my safety measure in place I thought I could do it all by myself and when I fell I had no one to rescue me.

This time around I've the measures in place and this challenge is a big 1 for me as I know everyone on here are there to support each other through this and will be there to rescue if anyone does fall during the journey

This Friday is a mini milestone for me as I will have paid my mother back all the money I owed her. I know I got to keep my guard up after that as I will have more disposable income but 1st thing I'm doing is using that to book a holiday. It's great to see the end of the debt tunnel and another part if my gambling life is leaving me

Thanks for another great update Mr B. Sorry to hear things are tough for you right now; I'm sure I speak for many on here when I say, if you need something specific from us, just shout.

The rollercoaster analogy is a good was of looking at the ups and downs of this journey but I live in hope that there is a future point where the car rolls into the terminal and I can safely dismount. That is why I blether on about underlying behaviour. I have come to believe that, for me at least, gambling was a symptom or expression of a deeper problem. I am committed to abstaining and regret my lapse (I know I can never be a social gambler like my family and friends) but feel proud that the efforts put in to understanding my triggers and compulsive behaviour have made this episode quite different. I have not obsessed about losses, they were an expense of a great night out. I have not isolated myself from the family in a funk. I have not blown the mortgage money trying to win it back. I feel like a nornal person for the first time in a long time and I am determined to keep it that way.

Good morning everyone,

Checking in on 252 gamble free days. A special welcome to our newcomer Stupid for wanting to join the 2014 challenge. The rules are on the first page and Mr B will add you to the list ready for Sundays update. You are in a good place on this forum as every person is a compulsive gambler who wishes to have a gamble free life. It is extremely hard in the early days but people on here will guide and offer assistance to you if you require it.

Well done on all the members who have reached specific milestones in your road to recovery. From 10 days to 300 days it is an achievement not be gambling and ruining our own and families/friends life's.

Mr B, you are a battler and I am confident you will be soldier through your difficult times. We all at some stage will encounter troubles but as others have said try and remain strong my friend.

I'm off on my holidays later tonight ( caravan in North Yorkshire) so may not be able get any internet connection for 10 days or so.

Keep up the good work everyone and try to remain strong through the difficult days.

Mike

Day 12 checking in. No thoughts on gambling so head seems to be back in the right place again. Also tightened up all the blocks I had just in case. Mr B your positivity (and days gamble free) is an inspiration to me. Hope things pick up for you. Well done everyone else hitting the big numbers of gamble free days.

Hello everyone feel a bit flat this week when I should be pleased at reaching a milestone. Still disappointed at myself for attempting to gamble last week really but I'm trying to forget that and move on. Good Luck to you all and stay safe. Daz.

Hey folks,

Many, many thanks for the messages of support throughout the week - it has meant a heck of a lot. It's been an extremely tough week, but absolutely no worries of gambling......the resolve is even stronger.

I'll be able to manage the update on Sunday but sorry, won't manage to update front pages and things like that - hopefully normal service resumed next week.

Mr B checking in.
