2014 Challenge

We'll good evening everyone!!

Well thank goodness it's the weekend!! What a week!! It's funny how you get to the point that you can't wait for the weekend again.......when early in the recovery journey you dread it with Saturday being the hardest day - it was for me anyway!

It's been a busy week on the challenge thread - any more weeks like this and I'm going to have to hire some part time help!! 🙂 While it's depressing to see so many people join Gamcare, it's so encouraging that so many re finding their way to this thread - we must be doing something right and creating a positive environment for people to join together to beat this instead of ploughing lone furrows.

Welcome to all the new soldiers - have a look at the very first post on this thread on page one to see any specific asks of you and where you'll see confirmation of you being added to the team etc.

For all of this weeks joiners, also have a look at the update on page 118 from last Sunday - I laid down a direct challenge to last weeks joiners and boy have they come up with the goods - outstanding performance from the guys so far this week - superb additions to the team and great new soldiers to have walking with us.

So we've got 12 of last weeks soldiers to check in with well over 40 hours to check in deadline. 21 of the team are in for Sunday for sure, with 3 out of a potential 7 new members definitely joining us on the march......we could well have 40 people in the team on Sunday!!! Outstanding!!

Proud moment... 6 calendar months/26 weeks today. Only 1 minute into today but wanted to celebrate it!

A massive well done to all milestones, be it 24 hours, days or weeks, may we all succeed beyond our dreams x

Big day today for three of us. Well done to Redeemed, Happy Days and No Maybe for reaching impressive milestones today. This challenge is growing in strength and drawing others in especially when people can see how well we are all doing. Its going to be some gathering in January.

As Phil says, it's a huge day for the team!! 3 massive milestones reached today.......

Redeemed - many many congratulations on hitting the half year - that's you joined a pretty exclusive club of 2!! You and Del are the leaders of the team........it's becoming an army!!

No Maybe - 150 days Julie - an awesome run of clean days, 5 months give or take an only a few weeks away from hitting the half year!! Superb!

Happy Days - welcome to the Century club Mike!! The membership of this club continues to grow - feels good!!!

Hopefully it's a massive day for another 2 of us as well.........sorry Ram90........but for The_Rock and myself it's a lunchtime for watching the mighty Reds get one over on our biggest rivals.......while I'm not confident at all it's a must win for both teams!! COYR 🙂

29 days clean (and that means over 1 month as it started in February!!)

In the past two days, the urges have lessened.

Again, been keeping myself busy and starting to enjoy work again.

It's almost as if I was numb when gambling, but I feel so much more upbeat about the future now.

Just a quick note in case my kindle crashes- thanks for all your kind posts over this last week and I'm sorry I can't post on your diaries but I will as soon as computer is sorted. Well done everyone this week and welcome to all newcomers it's great to see so many of us in this challenge and it is a testament to how well mr b runs it.

It's T-8 hours until check in deadline! I'm not getting worried yet with a number of Sunday "checkers" to come, but there are a couple of soldiers who would have normally checked in by now!

Good morning everybody,

I have finally reached triple digits and it is a fantastic feeling. It has been a roller coaster ride since I hit my lowest point last Dec, but the support on here I have received and continued dedication and commitment by Mr Brightside is making my addition to gambling slowly disappear. I will however not get complacent and not let my guard down during the rough times which will naturally come.

As it's 101 days gamble free today for me I would like to nominate Gambling and all other forms of betting to be placed in Room 101. Hopefully Mr Frank Skinner will agree!

Well done to everyone in this challenge from the longest abstained (Del79) to all of the new members on this forum, keep going and we can all have a better and more enjoyable gamble free life.

Morning again everyone,

Just a quickie - pulling together the check ins and numbers for this week in readiness for the update later on.........I need a steer on one thing and a quick reminder for a few others.......

So the steer - Craig (2102theyear) hasn't checked in for a couple of weeks, but is having a really tough time. I have confidence that he won't be gambling, but with the situation he's faced and the possibility that he doesn't have internet access, I'd like to check him in for one more week - I just need someone in the team to OK this.......I want Craig to feel supported and not forgotten when he get's back to the forum. Someone post to sanction this please.

There's been a lot of new member requests this week - 7 in total. I always ask for a repost during the week - 3 of the 7 guys have done this and will be added today. For the following guys, a check in before 3pm today to tell me # of days clean and how you are doing will see you added to the team and the update:-

Thanks Mr B - looking forward to your update later today. Regarding Craig - I do hope he is OK. As I am relatively new to the site I am unsure about the Powers That Be being able to contact people by PM to see if they are alright. I can see that a general PM system might be open to abuse, but it might be a literal lifesaver if Staff could sent just a short message to people who have suddenly disappeared from the radar. What do others think, or shall I get my coat?
