Day 93, checking in for the week. Tomorrow's day count will be done later in the afternoon / evening as I'm away for the weekend.

Great going, do you want to join us for a weekly check in and be added to the update each week Deanyboy?

Keep going folks and keep the check ins coming.

Thanks for the invite, but I'm only on now and again, mainly for inspiration when I'm feeling the 'tug' so will just keep to that....Everyone has their own battles with gambling and people consider victory in different ways, mine was to totally eradicate ANY form of gambling, as I gambled on all the usual ...that's how I measure my success, totally abstaining, no sneaky lottos, no scratches, no football bets placed by 3rd parties, I'd been doing the lottery since day 1, I still have the 1st day ticket printed in my ticket, I done the same numbers every draw, and it grew over time to include my roulette numbers, birthdays, houses I'd lived at until it was £70-108 per month, then there were the 'lucky dips' it soon escalates and gets out of control...a gamblers mind is different to a non gamblers, much like a alcoholic, drug addict etc....you've got to totally abstain otherwise the drug is still in your system...that's my only advice to all those trying to succeed in STOPPING gambling for good!

Its so easy getting trapped with those sneaky small bets. The lottery, free roll draws, free competition entry. Gambling's easy path.

Its fine for those who can control it. Not for the likes of me.

Sorry to hear that no problem.

I used to find that having time off work was when I'd usually want to gamble the most. Perhaps it's time to stop entering the bookies altogether. Temptation to play the fobts is high when you're in there.

Best wishes and hope you can regain your enthusiasm to quit.

Hiya Clare. had 2 gambling days on the fobt. vile things. I become a drifferent person when i play on them. No sense whatsover, i have come away from it fairly unscathed thankfully and have relinquished control of my card. Today is day 1 again but the gaps between gambling a getting better. I know now that i cant be in a bookies at all, even to play footy bets etc, as the tempatation is too strong, i was warned by others on here about it but you know what we gamblers are like. Thanks for the reply and i will stay in the challenge and get to that magical 50 day mark to start with.

Well done Sonic Boom.

Keep resisting those urges, it will get easier as the time goes on. Day count is not the main thing here. Why not try thinking of your total days abstained in 2015 instead. ... Now that is a fab achievement. You should be proud and say I haven't gambled for 230 days in 2015.

Clare 🙂

Well done Claire,

Great to see you're running this challenge now 🙂

Its a great help and nice to see progress.

Checking in 233 days gamble free x

Hi sorry for being away - I've been gambling like a mad man - feels like 7 months for nothing, it hurts and it was the worst i have ever been - a warning to all - its a progressive problem and it is a problem that none of us deserve and i wish everyone with this condition/illness/problem whatever you call it, i wish that you all kick it and kick it for good. I'm gonna have a break from here, maybe a good or bad choice but this is my choice and I'm going to try some new avenues of help and hope that i find the answer for me, as each of our recoveries our different and our own. I plan on trying councilling for the first time and hope that will help, time will tell. I want to thank everyone for the help and just having this challenge and the site as a whole has been a big help it may have come to a halt but it certainly has helped me and i'll keep striving forward. Best wishes to you all, I'm sure it wont be my last last post but it probably will be for a while. Thanks again.

No problem. If I were you I would get some passport photos done, go round all of your local bookies and ask to self exclude for a year. For me, being ask to leave because I'm barred would be horrendously embarrassing so I find it stops you even attempting to go in. Same with casinos and local slots shops.

Fell off the wagon today after 39 days of no fobt. Ended up in profit by a little bit only due to good fortune as at one point i was down. I told myself i will just have a quick game, but no, 4 hours or so of playing. i have a pounding headache. Got to put cash back in bank tomoz. Ive had some time off work for holidays and was getting complacent. My gaps between gaming are getting bigger which gives me hope, but for now im back to the start. Day 1 is tomorow.

Had a few days away so not been on here much but hope you are alright no problem.

I think it's a good idea to stay out of the bookies ... Far too much temptation in there to play the fobts.

Hope you're staying out of there and haven't been tempted back in after your slip the other day.

Yes thank you. Day 3 and no urges, think gambling is finally starting to bore me. Aim this time is to beat 39 days and then 43 days, my previous bests of 2015 and see what happens from their.

Checking in for Day 25.
Going away for a long weekend so checking in early.
Watched a brilliant TV drama on the apple iPlayer last night called Sunshine about a compulsive gambler played by Steve Coogan. Definitely worth a watch. Really emotional / heartwarming to watch. Made me cry.

Please can I join the challenge? I've finally decided to stop lying to myself and accept I CANNOT win. This gambling demon is not going to beat me any more.

Glad to hear you're on day 3 no problem, it's a good sign that the gambling is beginning to feel boring. If you can continue to see it as this and not as something you're missing out on, you should be well on your way to beating your previous best this year. Each time you attempt to quit you will get stronger and find different ways of thinking about gambling and coping with urges and staying away from it altogether. I really wish you well.

Enjoy your weekend The Ghost and i will be away myself again too this weekend. I will therefore be a little late in doing Sundays update - it will actually be done on Monday this week.

Welcome to the 2015 challenge Time4honesty. Perhaps you could share a little about what's fetched you here ... how long you've gambled, type of gambling etc.

All you need to do to stay in the challenge is to check in each week stating how many days you are gamble free.

If you feel you want to post more regularly, especially in the early days then feel free to do so and let us know how you're getting on.

Theres around 35-40 members on here and several now with hundreds of days gamble free and therefore you're in the right place if you seriously want to quit.

I am checking in myself today on 98 days and Saturday will be 100 days again for me.

My previous best earlier in the year was 120 and this provides me with a further short term goal after I hit the 100 !

Best wishes to all and have a wonderful gamble free weekend.
