2015 Challenge

Checking Inn day 61 had some urges this week but managed to fight them and I've booked a holiday this week something to focus on. Hope everyone is good 🙂

Hello I'm checking in for this week. I haven't gambled for 16 days now. Like I said last week I'm still angry it's still short. It should be a lot longer as I've tried to quit before.

This time I am determined. Reason? I finally told my girlfriend about my problem. She has all my bank cards as I requested new ones and have no access to money. To be fair though, I don't have no money. I get paid on the 26th and it's going to feel weird. I have money but I have no control over it. We have to pay our holiday with it and save for outrspending money anyway so I'm skint.

Thanks for reading kept it short but thats all I have to say for now, hope everyone is doing good like I am (so far)

I'm checking myself in for the week on day 74. Tomorrow I'm off to York for a lads weekend and won't be back till late Saturday night. I therefore won't be updating the front page between now and Sunday morning. So if you check in between now and Saturday at midnight don't think I've missed you out. Checking in. Day 27. Still feeling like I don't ever want to gamble again. No room for complacency though. Keeping busy and doing exercise (yes, even at my age !) is helping me.

Hi everyone, checking in for another week GF. what a difference doing the challenge this year with my head in the right place. Throughout last year I constantly looked for ways to work around measures I had in place to enable me to gamble again but I've now got the mind set I had 20 years ago when I managed to stop playing arcade slots. When it boils down to it, you've got to want to really do it, only then will you be able to put all your energy into achieving what you want and fight any urges that creep upon you. This forum is where we can come if urges whisper in our ears. Small steps, one day at a time. stay strong everyone.

Checking in on day 41 - I'm really astonished I have got this far but I'm staying on this course for life.

Had a beer yesterday, new £100 pub slots were like a magnet - I actually had an inner argument with myself and had to throw all my mental strength tools and reasonings at the irrational voice which was literally begging me to go and 'just put a £5 in you could be one of the lucky ones who win the £100 on a £5'er then walk away' THAT was seriously annoying to listen to that voice! I'm glad I gave it a voice though as now I can proactively mentally argue with it rather than go on autopilot and be torn apart by my actions and despair reactively.

So I argued with it, it could not offer any rational counters to my assertive reasoning and BOOM day 41 🙂 very happy!

Keeping guard up always and barriers in place.

Stay 100% committed and don't allow the voice to convince you to chase the end of rainbows - just an illusion and we are not fools.

We control our reality and I for one am not playing Russian roulette with a gamble bullet loaded in a gun anymore. That's the plan and I'm sticking to it like a postage stamp until I get there; delivered into a new life of abstinence.
