Just checking in.

It will be 3 weeks tomorrow since I had my last gamble!

I ended up in the bookies with friends who were placing football bets the other day. Normally I would be sat on the fruit machine losing money while they sorted their bets but the other day I just stood and watched people losing hundreds on the machines. I could see what I used to be and it isn't a pretty sight. One guy had a 250 balance one minute and after a few mega spins was down to nothing..literally minutes.

I didn't get the urge to gamble at all. Not that I could have because my girlfriend has taken my bank card as part of my 'gamble free' plan.

On the way home yesterday I had to stop in the services to drop off a mate.. He gave me £15 petrol money so I had money to gamble in the service station machines.. But the thought of gambling didn't even pop into my head.. I'm really happy.

I can't stress enough how helpful it is telling your loved ones about your problem. It's cliche, but when the problem is shared.. It feels like it has been halved. The stress and worry, for me, seemed to go almost instantly. And now I seem to be on the mend with my partners help.

Good luck people!

Welcome to Freshman247 you have now been added to the challenge and checked in. I know you've lost a huge amount of money, but I'm glad you have realised you have a problem early and taken action. It took many of us years to seek recovery.

mrdaniel1, well done for staying strong, but I wouldn't reccomend you put yourself through that again. When I'm at the match and mates go into the bookies I go to the pub or wait outside, I feel really strong and don't want to bet, but why test myself?

17 checks ins to go, come on troops lets be having you!!!

Checking in day 23 gamble free. Holiday balance has been paid off today. Found out that both kids need new passports and that we all need to sort visas out. One of these days surely the outgoings will be less than the incoming.

Still feeling quite low but not as bad as earlier in the week.

Stay strong everyone and remember together we can do it

Hi all,

Checking in and still gamble free. I must admit I've started thinking about gambling today but focussed my efforts on transfers in my dream team instead. If there is anyone else who used to enjoy betting on football I think this is a good tip. It still gives you an interest and if you set up a league with mates it gives you the competition that gambling used to give.

I've got a long road ahead and it will take years for me to pay off my debts. I just keep telling myself that each day I go to work I'm becoming a little bit richer. It's the only way I can deal with it and it's helping.

Keep strong!

Honk

Honk think theres a few of us on here with the fantasy footy interest and certainly helps. Maybe even thinking of starting a league in August on here.
