Good evening all.

Checking in on day 78.

Ive not had any major urges this week. Life's much better now I have no gambling transactions continuously debiting my bank account. It's good to look at almost three months worth of bank statements and see no gambling transactions. Last year I was spending hundreds every week on online slots and it wasn't unusual to spend over a thousand in one day. I was constantly checking my bank account and borrowing more money and opening new credit cards. It's important to remind myself of how bad things were for me. That way I stay strong when the gambling urges strike. My main issue is thinking I can control spending on gambling. I think to myself £20 wouldn't hurt would it ? But I've been there before, kidding myself I can control it. I proved to myself then I couldn't and now 78 days in I'm glad I'm in a much healthier financial position. I've been looking into saving more to pay off gambling debts faster as I took out a five year loan and at the moment it feels like I'll be paying it off forever.

Looking forward to joining century club soon !

Massive well done to triangle and Ringerbell on achieving a full year gamble free.

Boxingday1 x

Hello Boxingday1

Like you i gave up gambling on boxing day.......although my count is only 76 days as i never left the casino until some 40 hours later...

hence the obvious instability gambling caused me............once i started i really didn't or couldn't stop until every possible penny was spent.

So many thousands wasted............so many years to go to pay the £28k i still owe.

But least now nothing more is added........(only interest)

and eventually i will be free from the debt..........and as healed as it possibly is with this addiction that never really goes away........yet with determination, support and heaps of will power and sensible controls in place, can at least be held at bay at a safe distance.

Regards and best wishes to you my fellow sailor.

Also congrats to the new gamble free 1st year soldiers..TRIANGLE & RINGERBELL (Hope to be close on your heels soon)

Checking in 146 days without a bet.
Got through Cheltenham with everyone around me at work doing bets and sweepstakes but I'm still standing.
Onto the next challenge.

Triangle, Ringerbell so so delighted for you both! A massive WELL DONE. You are now enjoying your recovery and seeing the real you again :-). I'm so glad you have decided to remain part of the 2015 challenge. I'm sure you can both remember how difficult Day 1 was! Now you are able to stand with Phil and share your experience with wounded soldiers arriving straight from the battle field!

Well done to all of you who wake up this morning with the determination 'Today I will not gamble'!

Again well done Ringerbell and Triangle 🙂

Love Mama B xx

Checking in 18 days GF, cheltenham has come and gone and altho I've had massive urges today ive kept busy with the family, I blocked all my online accounts when I joined Gamcare so that in itself makes it easier.

Hope everything is going well for people and I will check back in when I go away on Monday and I have a bit more time to read posts etc.

Take care

Dan

Hello thanks again @bornagain for sorting the posts out and apologies for missing the check in a couple of weeks not intentional I have just been too busy to even think about gambling. I am now on my 10 week mark today which I'm really happy with. I would be lieing if I said I hadn't been getting urges but have managed to resist thankfully. I got promoted this week which had been the biggest promotion of my career. My mind has been clear for 10 weeks which has meant I have focused my energy elsewhere and this happened.
