For anyone reading this post, I'm not proud but it was my past life. Not that I dismiss my past, I own it but can't live in it to move forward
In action I showed the world how strong I was. Unwavering, I knew all the answers and would help anyone. I dressed well and built a company from nothing. I took every opportunity as a gift to promote my honesty, integrity and a moral compass that pointed North and north only.
All ego all bs and trying to come back and every moment of weakness now I'm in recovery. I have to constantly check where my motives are and that my side of the street is clean.
One word would actually sum me up, selfish. Driven by the dragon inside who puffed his chest and blew fire at everyone the alter ego of the gambler. False in every way. Using character defects with no one knowing.
Gambling was my kryptonite. It took everything from me. It changed me, far removed from who I really am. Gambling as an addiction is like no other. I'm not running a league table of addictions but it won't stop until it takes everything from you.
So each day I wake up to a new day I want to be Superman. Not the qualities of super strength or turning back time etc but taking the opportunity to help and do good. To give back to this amazing world and the people in it. But to carry on recognising for the rest of my days that gambling is my kryptonite and one of the patterns that leads me to it is ego, false self confidence.
