Thank you so much @bettyfretty and your more than welcome, it's great to see yourself and everyone on here has made the decision to do this and commit to a month gamble free - no one will regret that decision that's for sure!

It will be a great celebration for us all if we can look back in a month and say we did it a month gamble free.

Welcome Lakelands, slips can happen, unfortunately there part of the recovery process. Addiction is a powerful thing and your bound to have urges and unfortunately in the early days you won't always be able to ignore them.

But if they do happen you really want to learn from them. Why did you gamble? Was it financial stress, work stress, an argument etc. When you learn why you gamble you can start to put in blocks to make sure you don't again, you learn to deal with those difficult circumstances in a better way.

Also I don't know if your like me but when I started my recovery, I said to myself I won't self exclude as I should have the mental power to stay stopped myself. Now there's some truth to that but I soon realised after multiple slips,  that it doesn't matter how I stop aslong as I stay stopped. I'm thankfully now over 3 years away from gambling but I still self exclude every year and have a blocking app on my phone. My urges are few and far between but I think part of that is because I know I can't gamble as my access is dramatically reduced, so it definitely helps and I would recommend to all.

Take care,  learn from and then forget about the slip and prepare for a month gamble free!

Hi all,

Lakelands - great decision shows you mean business. I am proud to be honest and of course I've been through a lot of highs and lows with gambling and the road of stepping away from gambling. Started at the same point as we all do so you will get to your goals to as I'm sure we all will.

MikeH79 great to have you, well done on the 214, this will help you toward the big 250! Awesome.

I've had a busy weekend and Monday with work but I'll be back again tomorrow and post a list of all of us taking on the challenge (I still can't edit posts - emailed gamcare again so we'll see what's going on. Does everyone else have the option to edit there own posts?).

Day 1 tomorrow!

Good Morning! Day 1!

31 days of gamble free living.

31 days of feeling empowered.

31 days of feeling in control of your life.

31 days of personal growth and pride.

31 days and beyond!

We have all made the decision to stop gambling because we know that our lives will be better without it. The harsh truth is knowing that knowing it and living by it are 2 different things and what should be easy unfortunately isn't but you don't feel proud doing something easy, you don't feel that sense of accomplisment with something easy.

But you will feel all of that and more by making the right choices and staying away from gambling. Put in the effort this month to have many more great months and years ahead.

Best wishes to all.
