I signed up to an online betting site (not sure if I should mention its name or not), and I wanted to try my hand at the online live casino, namely the live roulette. Deposited £XX and a prompt popped up stating do I want a free £10 (terms and conditions apply), I clicked OK, and continue my activites, play roulette, won about £XX and decide to withdraw. But to my dismay it wouldn't let me withdraw any amount, contact customer service, and they tell me because I took the £10 bonus, it has contaminated my real cash £XX and rendered it mickey mouse money. I am now subject to a withdraw limit, basically I have to win £XX and then I can withdraw £XX and make it real money, otherwise, the money I have in the account is mickey mouse money. I was furious. I told them I didn't know this. They didn't care, they said I clicked on "OK" and that meant I was OK to the terms and conditions. I offered to pay them back the £10, or even £20, but they said no. I took REAL MONEY, £XX, from my bank account to play and they basically stole it and said it's now mickey mouse money, unless I can win £XX then I can withdraw. I was so mad and disgusted, that I did some crazy bets to reach the £XX withdraw target. Of course I lost.

That was many years ago. Because of this one incident where they stole my money, it left me so disgusted that I haven't returned to play on online betting sites. As the title states, perhaps it was the best thing to have happened to me.

Many years later, I did log back into the site to try to use it to get money into my paypal account, and a pop up came up stating that from now on bonuses can be cancelled at any time. I guess they must have had a lot of complaints about that. Well, too little too late. I won't be playing on that site. They f***d me over once already.

Hi leevoltaire,

it is not quite clear from your post, but just to be sure - was this experience the start of your recovery from your gambling problem? Or is this just about that one particular site and one particular occasion and you have carried on gambling since?

I am asking so we can have some context of why you felt the need to share this with us.

All the best,

Eva

I am in recovery at the moment. This was just to illustrate what a rip-off these online sites are, and that it was this one experience that soured online sites for me. They stole my money!! I've relapsed with live casino... but that's another story. This is to show why I don't play online sites.
