Hi all, back again - it's more of a one step forward, one step back - treading water on my debt, making plans then relapsing for a day and back to same position (but no worse). Demoralising, but haven't lost hope.

This forum always gives me a reality check and I find it difficult to maintain contact with it every day because when I'm feeling better and recovering I tend to drift back to normal life and feel happy and free (til the next blip).

Does anyone know of an email newsletter or daily reminder for us, because I always have my phone with me and check email regularly - an email newsletter daily would help I think to just keep tabs on the problems associated with gambling.

Ta

Can't this site be that daily reminder? Just set your phone reminder for a daily check up at Gambling's premier chat hole.

Yes one option is to set up a daily email reminder to login here. I was just wondering if there was anything else more structured? Wouldn't a daily newsletter be nice? With words of wisdom / stories of woe etc

That sounds like something I would love to follow 🙂

How about that as your challenge? It doesn't have to be a full daily newsletter, maybe a line or two of research or personal feelings on a 'Newsletter thread'? Or there is one called 'Thought' (I think it's Volcano's thread) where some of us have really identified with quotes from other diarists & re-posted them on it! Plus other random stuff which you may like to contribute to?

Problem with addiction is it never goes away & unless you have outside support from places like GA or counselling etc giving you tools as to how to live alongside it, reminding you not to give in to it, it's very easy to believe it offers you a better life & forget the real pain it causes!

Keep working on acceptance that gambling is the problem, not the cure! Get whatever help you can from wherever you can to help you fight this & be strong - ODAAT

I have set myself a daily email that arrives at 0800 each morning that says "Always remember" followed by:

The tears
The loss
The struggle
The repercussions
God and gamcare
Don't lose at this
You can succeed each day

Love you

It will probably get boring after a while but I hope it's a start. I do think a daily newsletter from voices of gamblers would be a good daily reality check for a lot of us. If anyone is interested in helping me setup one up, that's would be a good project I think?

If you lead I'm sure others would follow.

Good idea.

Good luck with it.
