Hi Fitzy, welcome to the Forum,

It is indeed draining on mind and body, and you are right that being proactive is key.

I have stopped for over five years after gambling for twenty. I wallowed in self-pity and regret for a long time; I also tried to cut down and do it alone - all of which failed miserably.

You have to plan and be prepared - you also have to accept that you are going to have bad days but that is ok, if you "ride the storm", tomorrow is almost always a better day my friend.

You have an element of control which is encouraging, but you never know when you could push yourself over the edge my friend. There are many, many people who have come here over the years and have got into a bit of debt and spent too much, but nothing too damaging, but then their life circumstances change, and they find out that they suddenly need every penny. It doesn't take long for them to realize that they can't just stop when they want to, and the problem is bigger than they realize.

You have a chance to turn things around and create a better life for yourself my friend; cherish it, value it and push yourself forward, zero tolerance, without exception. Take it slowly, one day, one hour at a time.

You are not a bad person as you say my friend, but, after a time, this is all people know; if you want your wife to see the best of you, then you need to stay focused and positive my friend.

Ok James am thinking what you saying is I'm in fortunate position that I realise that have serious problem , before any real damage done or any regrets.

But anything I'm more vulnerable , as wont actually know how bad it has me till deal with negative life change , and if can overcome this without turning to gambling ?

Please correct me if wrong James?? , thanks

I'm a cg just like you and everyone else on here , but my life could go seriously wrong like many have when initially one on here

I heed your warning loud and clear, thank you
