Great points Davey.

It is scentifically proved the problem gambler gets just a big high from a near miss as they do a win and boy are you right the near misses occur over and over again. I pretty much played the same numbers and without going into too much detail would pick 2 and 4 and the amount of times it hit 21 which sits between them was laughable.

I don't think they are rigged as such and I guess they have to show in detail what is put in and taken out but along the way they have devised a remarkably clever way with near misses of getting people to a point where they can't stop either because they are chasing losses of trying to add to their winnings. For me if I put £20 in and got up to say £40 and started losing I would chase the £40 not just the original £20 I put in.

What a shame we have not mirrored the US and banned online gambling - and FOBTs for that matter.

On a rare day off today I watched deal or no deal and the guy playing was as deluded as I used to be when I played the machines. Despite the odds being totally against him he went on and on convinced he would win £250,000 and it struck me how greedy we get and it's that greed mixed with delusions of grandeur that plays straight into the bookies hands.

At the end of the day the bookie can only stand the machines in the shop - if nobody plays them then they would not make a bean.

By the way the man on deal or no deal turned down £12k and ended up with 50p !!

The bookies would like to say a big thank you to everyone who continually lost money in the roulette machine.

It will most certainly help pay for a tremendous Christmas !!

They would send you a Christmas card but said they could not be bothered to mix with mugs more than necessary !!

Keep it going in 2013 !! Or will you ?

You always have a choice and the choice is always yours!

Will you make the right one not just in relation to the outcome today but for what it means longer term?

Dave

Just one spin away from disaster

Hi Hammer

If you really thought you children needed to do something for their own good and they said 'Dad, I just can't ' what would you say to them?

You mention the words 'fighting them' so let's think about that for a mo, you in one corner and the FOBT in the other corner - that's a bit like Mike Tyson v a lightweight in a boxing match ie totally one sided.

As you say they should not be in the high street but they are and every time you walk on by its a victory for you.

If you can't stay away for you how about doing it for your family. You will never ever win long term on the machines - never.

All the best with whatever you decide.

Dave

Whether it be Christmas, New Year, Easter or whenever the machines will be standing ready to take your money. They may give you a win now and again but will always always always get it back plus more.

Stop the excuses, stop fantasising about that big win and see them for what they are.

Merry Christmas

Dave

Dave

of course you are absolutely right; but right doesn't seem to enter the equation when the demons have a hold of my mind and I somehow believe that this time i can run a little luck and make a few and get out while it is good. Of course I know that is BS, but I find it is easy to believe. I am fighting this very momnet to nnot log online to casino and play that same damnable game. I am fighting....I have asked them to exclude me and disable my account..just today I asked. But they said because of holidays it will be couple of days. So now my mind is telling me I hacve a couple days to get in pne last marathon session...so I logged on intot his site to try and reas aobut others success in overcoming this temptation. thyanks for being there and the wise words

Hi O - you know what, if you play you may 'run a little luck' but that's the problem, that little run of luck will egg you on to search for more 'little luck' and then more until........BANG!! that inevitable loss. In my experience the loss always always always comes eventually.

Whoever thought of roulette and particularly the machines and online access certainly knew what they were doing - the only way to beat them at their own game is not to play. Without punters they are nothing.

Hope this helps.

Dave

As soon as you feed your first note in you are chasing.

Rather than thinking 'how much will I win?' think 'how much can I afford to lose?'

I've just been trawling the net, reading about experiences on other sites and came across this little gem.

Any FOBT issues in a *********** shop are repaired within 30 minutes! They have the suppliers on an emergency call-out regardless of the time of day, come rain or shine to get the machine up, running and robbing immediately!

Any other issues (tills, toilet facilities etc) and they're told to 'make do'!

Hi dave; thanks for the words.

SOmehow I was able to resist the temptation to log in and now my exclusion has taken effect. I cant gamble at my two fav sites anymore. You can be sure tho that I investigated two others as potentials....didn't do it tho, and I truly believe reading the posts on this site help. This addiction is amazing in what it will have you do and try to convince yourself of. Again, I have much thanks for all the posters here. You are my strength right now.

Fantastic piece of information Kev.

If it wasn't for the machines most of the high street shops would have closed by now.

They are happy to pay people to work until 10pm just on the off chance some idiot will come in thinking they can win but instead end up emptying their wallets and bank accounts. Very simple maths of course - they pay someone minimum wage to man the desk and in return the mugs plough 100's into the machine.

Next time you are tempted to play the roulette machine ask yourself this - 'how much can I afford to lose? '. I would suggest most of the time the answer is zero in which case it's a form of entertainment you cannot afford!!

When you get that odd win on the machine and the spectators say 'nice one-well done' they don't mean it - it's all fake.

Those people who watch you play are willing you to lose and lose badly - not only does the bookie think you are a mug, your spectators do as well.

Ruin their day and cancel the show.

Hi dave,,, ive never actually played on a Fobt in a bookmakers and never will..most of my gambling was in the gambling hell hole next door called the "amusement aracde".

But as with you I think that Fobt's should be removed. Its like the highest stake you can put on 1 spin on an arcade slot machine is £2 and yet you can walk into the bookies and put £100 on one spin in an Fobt!!

How on earth government ever thought that this was a good idea... god only knows!!.. regards.. S.A
