This was the question in an online meeting I went to yesterday and I said No.
After we went around the room answering yes or no, I had the chance to explain.
So life today compared to a hear ago
No job
No Range Rover company car
Lost many friends
Some family friends don't speak to me
Lost my reputation
Not playing golf, my love
Relationship struggling
Lost all my laptops and iPhone which were company ones
In the criminal justice system
So the obvious answer would be no. But I've learned to appreciate what is simple in life. What's free. So I answered would I prefer to stoop to 5 foot 9 and get in my car or walk down the street 6 foot tall and smiling.
So life isn't better but my word it feels better, a million times better
I hear you Stuart and the above is a bitter pill to swallow 😢. However, we all know on here that to move forward, we have to let all what’s happened, pass us by. Or in your case, as much as possible 🙏.
Ask yourself the question “Is your life better while you are continuing to gamble/lose a shed load of money”?
Just remember the present and all you are doing right here and now to better life for you firstly and then for your loved ones. You have made a tremendous effort and especially with all you have had to face up to/deal with also 👏👏👏.
Back to the question - “Is life better in recovery”? For me, it’s a big fat YES, YES,YES!!👌💪🙏.
Take care Stuart and remember - day at a time!🙏.
Your friend Pink 🩷🍎.
Absolutely pink. If I live in yesterday I dwell in the past and all that addiction brung. If I live in tomorrow I am the same dreamer that was in action. All I have is today. Today I am a free man and stand tall on that walk
I can totally relate to that Stuart. In 2019, I felt like I had the world of retirement at my feet and I was financially secure for life. Slots have changed all that. If only I could go back to the person I was before addiction took hold. I feel like a shell of the person I was.
On the other hand, as part of coming to terms with my loss, I appreciate the simple things in life that make me feel fulfilled. I can afford to do my hobbies which I am very passionate about and some of what gives me the most pleasure in life is free. Gambling may have taken my money but it has not stolen the real treasures.
Stuart that the correct answer it the honest truth life is better in recovery 100% this is what i can control👍
Hi Jean
So well said. With the work we do in recovery we can become the absolute best version of ourselves and actually enjoy retirement when it comes
Affected by gambling?
