Hi No Control,

I see you've posted a few times recently, and it sounds like you're pretty fed up and frustrated. What do you want to do at this point? If you've been able to stay abstinent for over a year, that's a good start, and it shows that you do want to stop gambling. Now you've just got to take every and all steps you can to make that stick. It's hard to always be vigilant in your recovery, but unfortunately that's the reality to accept when you've got a serious gambling problem. Sometimes people have to take some really difficult steps to keep themselves safe if online gambling is an issue, which it sounds like in your case. Are you gambling on your phone? Do you absolutely need to have internet access on it? Some people find that not having a phone with that kind of temptation works a lot better for them, so that might be an option for you and make your life more peaceful.

Have you tried counselling yet? That can help you work on ways to manage your urges more effectively and choose healthier behaviours that will actually benefit your life, rather than make it stressful, like gambling does. We've got partner agencies in many parts of the UK that provide free counselling for gamblers, would you give us a call and we can look up what might be near you? Counselling is generally one of the things that help people the most if they're trying to quit.

I can see you've been a member on here for a few years, but we never know exactly what steps people have taken or not in trying to quit. If you'd like to call us and have a chat about any of this and maybe explore options we'd be happy to do that, and we're open from 8am to midnight every day on the Helpline and Netline.

Hang in there, and I hope things get better for you. You can get over this if you don't give up.

Travis

Hello Travis, thanks for the reply, no I've not had any counselling, will try it soon, I'm trying to stay clean today and so far it's working probably because I'm broke, thanks again, NC.
