Hi all 28 days G.f thank you so much for the support so far. Especially getting to relate to other peoples stories, it really does help.

So, I'm not sure if this is just me because of my personality, but I am really struggling at night which I know is common.

On a night time, I either gamble, watch people gambling or play fake slots. I have done this for quite some time.

My therapist explained it is the withdrawl and my brain is looking for the hit. Which makes sense, I feel like something is happening with my brain as im crying a lot, not in sadness, just as a reaction to thing that wouldnt usually affect me.

Anyway, I have flooded my brain with all of the anti gambling messages on here and on youtube. So I don't want to gamble, in fact I see gambling adverts snd they just P**s me off. However, I have gone from just thinking about gambling all the time, to just obsessing over other stuff. My money situtions bad, as I know is the same with most. I have been on a DMP over a year, but check how much I have left to pay like 12 times a day. I have managed to have a little bit of savings put away from not gambling after payday for the first time ever. I check my balance all the time.

My brain is going 100 MPH about money that I rationally know I have under control. Yet, my body is just irritated, I am struggling to function and be productive.

I know this is niche, I am gonna use the chatroom at 6pm but if anyone has dealt with this I would love to hear how you dealt with it or when it went away for you

Thanks!

Hi Dom

I'm going to be back on the 8pm chatroom if you are about and we can talk plus there are loads of good people in there. I'm not telling you what to do mate but I had a bit of a phone problem in the first few weeks and was playing a lot of games and checking bank balance etc even though i knew nothing was coming in or out each day. I had to work hard on just living it upstairs or downstairs for periods of time as I knew it wasn't healthy for me. I am very wary of replacing one addiction with another, whatever that manifests itself as.

The weekly routine idea really works for me. As long as you don't get hecked up about not doing any items on there. Just move them on a day and don't fuss about it.

Got some other ideas for you but it would be good to know a bit more about your gambling story, where it started etc and also what you have done in recovery. Understand if you can't do that but if you want any support I am here for you mate. by the way 28 days is a REAL number !!!!

Bless you for coming back here after the chat mate.

I don't even know what I want or need it's all unchartered waters. So im just learning from you guys really

My story is on my newbie intro mostly. I have been an addict since I was 16 turned 33 this week. It got progresssively worse, loads of debt, relationships broke down.

Been depressed and hit rock bottom over and over but wouldnt get help. I thought I coukd do it alone.

Only very recently realised doing it alone is never going to work for me and actually feel hopeful.

Im scared of losing this feeling mate

Hi Dom

Not at all. I had people look after me in dark times and I will always answer you and be here for you mate.

99% of people don't know what we are going through. Many profit of us like operators, loan companies, banks and the government

No one has a magic pill not least of all me but I'm here to listen whenever you need to rant or talk and if I can make any suggestions on what's worked for me then I'm happy to.

Maybe try and put together that routine we spoke about and limit the use of your phone.
