Hi guys
So, I think my main issue with gambling was the "easy money" that I thought i could get - and of course at times it came, but most of the time it just went!

So, I am now on a lifetime recovery - i've accepted that - and with the support of my partner I am sure it will be easier for me. No longer can I be secretetive about - and no longer do I need to either.

My issue is - I wanted to make money, and i suppose I was too lazy to think of another way of doing it. I am lucky that I have a job and can, just about, afford to pay off my debt now on a DMP. It will take another 3 1/2 years.

So, I still want to make money, and the Sick part of me realised that I was a prime target for making money out of - as are all of you!!! When I first realised this, I decided to make a website with the aim of trying to get affiliate income from it. Then I realised....I feel like total s**t when i lose!! So why the hell would i want to help other people have the same feelings and experiences of feeling bad? So i binned that idea.

I know a lot of people can't have extra money - but say you realise that you know why you gambled, and if you had all the money you needed, would you still want to gamble? I know its probably yes. But lets picture your ideal life...but you need money to get there...how do you get more money outside of your day job? A side hustle if needs be.

What have any of you guys done?

I have always wanted to start my own business, and specifically an exercise based martial arts class. So, my plan for the first half of this year is to save enough money to run my classes for 3 months on a trial for a set number of people. Hopefully, if feedback is positive, I will continue with it as a business and tick off one of my dreams. I think dreams help us - and i think replacing gambling with something else that keeps you really busy is a great way to overcome it.

So yea, do any of you have any ideas of how to make additional money outside of your usual day job? (obviously not gambling related).

Its the comparison that anything else could replace, distract or in any other way stop a person from gambling if that person wanted to.

If you can Matt, go for it!

Live your dream

I think its also about coming to terms with money, how you see it and what it means to you.

All I can say is gambling = £2000 lost for me last year. I finally realised I wasnt dealing with it properly and I put the exclusion blocks on.

Thats gone. That was my attempt at easy money which of course is a dreamworld that you cant base a life on.

Thats how simply I deal with the thought gambling = Lose and Im not giving them a penny

People should start their own business if they can. Its not always easy but what earning opportunities are. Dont pass through life like me without giving it a go. Im off to study and try and build my life up. Ive lived in a dreamworld most of my life
