Hello

A quick story of what happened yesterday in my recovery

I'm a CG and after 7 years clean I let my guard down in Jan and re entered the incipid world of a CG.

to cut to the chase It took me 5 months to stop all the b******t lieing deception and manipulative behaviour to realise how far I had stooped once more and here I am again.

Bare In mind I have lost £1000's once again over the part 5 months I went to buy some Protein from Holland and Barrat as 7 years ago when I quit I found exercising to be a great comfort and a way to tire the mind.

I picked the protein up, went to the till and was told it was £25.00 I gulped at the price, thought "Christ that's expensive" and put it back!!!!!

ha ha ha what a wierd desease, I would place £25 on a horse/greyhound/football and not blink an eye, then do it another 20 times in that day!!!!

Why oh why oh why don't I take this Northern tightness In with me to the Bookmakers??????

The problem would be solved so much easier ????

By the way after realising this £25 protein will probably save me a further large amount of money and begrudgingly paid the lady.

wow what a balmy state of mind.

I love this post. I'm quite tight with money, go on about the kids knowing the value etc. Then spent 6 grand in 6 weeks on the slots. During this time I've thought about joining the gym etc, but "can't afford it". What a load of rubbish.

Good luck to you.

This made me chuckle although I know it's not funny! I'm also really tight with "real" money and as gamblers we completely lose the value of it. It has helped my recovery this time tho by actually making a special purchase or buying something I would otherwise have said was too expensive. I now think "you would have spent that gambling in 5 minutes" and I buy it. It feels good!. If I'm feeling bored instead of logging on a gambling site I now log onto an online shop and look for bargains as well. Quite often it's less than a couple of quid and takes weeks to arrive from China haha but it keeps me amused and I have loads of bargains along the way xx

Yep, I don't understand this either!!

I will not buy the cheese I want as a treat cos it is £4, and then I will not buy the new pillows we so desperatley need, then deposit £100 to try and 'win' £20 for these xtra bits. I thought it was just me, it doesn't make any sense.

I have a reputation for being really good with money, and I am (apart from the gambling). People would be so shocked if they knew.

Yep I'm always thinking to myself when out at the pub that's four pound for a drink, 12 pound for a round blimey that's like a fourth of a days wage, I must go home soonwhilst my mates don't think about it at all, and they don't think at all when spending money on groceries and such just pay it and don't think about it, but when it comes to,gambling I don't think a second about putting a tenner into a fruit machine. Just a tenner that's like a fifth of a days wage lol. And that's all because theres a slim chance I could come out on top. If I didn't go on fruit machines at all id be up a lot of money in the long run. Also I sit in the pub watching other people play them when I could be chatting to mates.

Haha I'm right behind you on this one guys! I search the Internet for everything I buy in order to gain the best deal and not be done out of a few quid!

On the other hand though I will happily risk £200 in fobt's to try and make a quick £50.... Redicilous logic.... But I think all gamblers are tight in order to fund their next bet!?

That said though..... A big win and I spend it like its water.... I'd happily spend double on my weekly shop purely because I'm cash rich!!

In the past I've purchased a £2k watch on the back of a decent month...... Crazy..... We're not wired up right us CG's haha
