Hi new here and I've been gambling for about 7 months. Just found out it is a possible side effect from my medication to be a compulsive gambler I don't want to go down this route I been on any more. I told my doctor the other day about it and as I really just come out of care from mental health team he's sent them a letter regarding the problem and I just pray that they will take it seriously and provide some action to help me. What kind of help will they offer do you think? Whats the success rate for people that do this sort of counselling? (if they even put me on that)

I've personally not gone down the counselling route, although it has been an option.

I'd say use everything available to you. Take the counselling if the medical professionals feel it may benefit you, use gamblers anonymous groups if available, tell close friends/family if you can, use this site. Build up a good support network.

That's whats helped me the most. Being able to share my thoughts and feelings, either here or to my partner. It makes things so much easier to know you don't need to deal with a gambling addiction alone.
