I have wrote about this before so apols for repeating. Does anyone else struggle with giving up when they work in the industry. My job means i am always watching racing/sport most days and i just hate the industry now and it doesnt help with my abstaince.I know that people will say to leave but right now im in a good position on some share schemes and no way i can leave until 1/2 years. The job is ok its just I find it hard with the addiction to gambling. Any thoughts/advice is really welcome

Hello Lemon25,

It sounds like you're saying that there are some advantages for you if you remain in your job, so that is what you are choosing to do; and at the same time the environment contains reminders of what you are trying to avoid, and you wonder how other people might manage similar challenges.

By using peer support here on the forum you are placing yourself in an environment that is supportive of your recovery. Although your work is important to you, your world and your life is bigger than your job; think about where you find it easier to make changes in your life that will support your recovery. Consider whether you might like to use more support, to help you to work towards achieving your goals or to progress further in your chosen direction. What kind of support might you use in addition to the forum, would it be GA, counselling, something else?

You're welcome to call us on 0808 8020 133 if you'd like to look into getting more support.

Take care,

Adam.
