I had plans made for tonight. Tonight I was supposed to be round at my mates to watch UFC 252 with drinks. Even though I’ve been looking forward to it for a while now I’ve bailed on it. I feel really low and depressed and just want to hide. This past week I feel my discipline has gone a stray. I’ve got all the software on my devices. Im on 5 years gamstop. I’ve excluded myself from key operators but this week I have been spending the time after work in the 18 area to this arcade and have lost so much money. I kept going back each day chasing my loses but every time walking out even further in the hole. Contacting my mates and getting them to lend money so I can chase my money back and still coming out with nothing. I’ve had to sell possessions this week to pay back my mates and even with the money over I’ve lost it all again. I tried adding this arcade to my multi operator exclusion scheme plan but they said they don’t work with arcades and only the book makers. I feel so disappointed in myself and so chaotic and rattled. I knew I had to stay home today to try and re find my centre and work through these really horrible feelings alone.

I really need help beyond exclusions and software. Does anybody know what’s available out there?, are there treatments? Do they work?

Hi C

Would you be able to get someone you trust fully control your finances? That person should of course know your gambling problem and should be very strict with you.

My partner also found GA meetings very helpful.

I hope you find something that will work for you.

Hi,

Hope you’re ok. Have you tried calling the advisors on here? I don’t have much advice as I only joined yesterday but I know they offer courses etc.

@cal-j If you look on bacta.org.uk they are an organisation for self exclusion from arcades.

I've not used them myself but they're in the self help section, if that helps with this current arcade binge you are going through.

As far as treatments find a GA meeting.

Hi, the only way ive found to escape this was to leave crds at home and only take out a bit of money with me when i go to town, then if i gamble it can only be the money i have on me.   it works really well.

Hi Call,

As mentioned above, try not to have cash on you and if you really want to succeed, hand over your finances. It's a very hard thing to do, very hard to take ego-wise you feel like a naughty seven year old, but it does work. Without the tools (money) you can't gamble, plain and simple. Tell people you have a problem and they won't led you money. I know it all sounds drastic but it sounds like you need it. Then finally get yourself to a GA meeting. People in there have been through what you're going through and they won't judge you, they'll only try and help you. Best of luck.

Happy
