Well said Signalman. I think we agree that there are far better ways of disposing of money than giving it to bookmakers who just laugh all the way to the bank..
Obviously we thought we got something out of gambling or we wouldn't have done it but it was all an illusion really. We ventured off to cloud cuckoo land and paid the price for our gullibility. 'Fools rush in where angels fear to tread.'
You are doing really well in recovery and show a lot of compassion and understanding towards your gamcare friends. I respect you for that and I also admire your courage and determination which is an inspiration to your fellow travellers.
Whenever your feeling a bit confused or if you are unsure about where your going, just remain calm and draw on your inner strength. I am guessing you have plenty of that, although admittedly it might sometimes get buried under a bit of clutter.
Take good care of yourself ...stephen
Stephen, you truly are special, supportive and kind,
You bring joy to our hearts
And peace to our mind.
It made me annoyed when you said you were lazy.
With your studying, gym work and dancing - that's crazy!
Maybe, all that you need to achieve gambe free,
Is some self-belief
That you are worthy!
If I had a wand,
I'd wave it your way,
And make this one wish,
Gamble free, you will stay.
But alas, there's no wand,
But you can have happiness still, just remember, keep climbing,
That gamble free hill!!
All good wishes
Lml x
Sounds like an amazing week Stephen hope you enjoy it and I’m glad someones looking after your money for you 🙂 youre doing so well
Thank you Lml for the beautiful poem you posted. The words mean a great deal to me and I shall go back and read them many times over. I have replied on your diary.
Thank you Lisa for your support and encouragement. I really do admire your positive attitude. Its as if you suddenly came to your senses and decided that you'd had enough. You came to realise that you couldn't beat the gambling so you simply turned your back on it and walked away. That sounds real easy but it isn't and I admire you for that.
What will today bring I wonder! I am at the cinema tonight for "Mary Queen Of Scots." ...Stephen x
Let us know if it's any good ;o)
Sandra that poem is absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much for that.
Hello Signalman. Watched "Mary Queen Of Scots" at the cinema tonight and really enjoyed it.
Hope everyone on the diaries has a good week ... Stephen x
Hi Stephen
Carry on inspiring others because that is what you do and keep digging deep, gambling will not get the better off you.
17 days gamble free is a tremendous start, as most don’t make it through the first few days, onwards and upwards, you are nearing breaking through the 20 day barrier.
Shaun
Many thanks for visiting my diary Shaun and congratulations on your excellent progress. You are 141 days away from your last bet and as determined as ever to stop gambling. A good example to someone like myself.
I am plodding along but feeling apprehensive as monthly pay-day approaches.
It would be foolish of me to think I am not at risk because I am. I just live in hope that I don't mess things up again...Stephen
I have just enjoyed a good gamble free Tuesday with no urges to gamble.
Tenants Association meeting this morning, college this afternoon for computer studies and Salsa dancing tonight.
Money in the bank in a couple of days and I must stay strong and not go in any betting shops... Stephen
Happy... 19th day. Keep going nearly 20. Keep asking the angels to protect you from the demons. Your winning at not gambling. Xx
Thank you Bella for your support and encouragement.
I was just looking at my profile page and I liked seeing the 20 days GF. However, I am wary of day counting and from now on will just focus on one day at a time.
My pension goes in bank today so I am apprehensive but other than that I am feeling ok. Going out this evening to have a meal and then watching a play/comedy. Looking forward to that. I had better get well wrapped up because it's a bit chilly ...Stephen
Hi Stephen
If you get an urge, you don’t have to act upon it. Just see is as a passing feeling and soon it will disappear.
Well done you are doing great and winning it.
Shaun
Wise words Shaun - are you talking about urges in general or just the crazy desires to have a bet
Whichever way I look at it I will not frown or fret - I just won't go in betting shops or end up in a sweat
I know now where I'm going and I know just where I've been
I'm here with friends on the gamcare road and following my dream ...Stephen
Hi Stephen great to see you blazing the GF trail for yourself and also offering support and understanding to others. So very important to know you're not alone have a super weekend S x
