Hi all
I have just been on a holiday website and entered the details for me, the wife and 4 children to go to Disney Florida.
Flights, stay at a Disney Hotel, all food INCLUDED, all park tickets INCLUDED and daily 100 dollar vouchers spend at the park, for a total sum of..............£5500.
This is about £500 less then my total gambling debt. Neither to say that I can't afford the holiday. It's all about regrets. When I had a win it was very little to what I had lost.
You all know how the song goes "gamblers only sing when they are winning". The point I am trying to make is that I never knew my debt was so high and going to take so long to pay back.
Just to add more misery on myself, the holiday to Disney was priced up in April when it is peak cost and the weather is stunning.

Double figures today!
Yes it's day 10 gamble free today and everything is fine and dandy.
Shaun
Nice one Sean - both for the double figures and the holiday booking.
it is annoying how they increase the cost for certain parts of the year as it never seems to go in our favour - ah well.
One things for certain - the £5,500 spent on the holiday will give you and your family far more pleasure than just giving it to the greedy bookmakers.
Keep up the great work - you did it in 2011 so it can be done.
Dave
Another day chalked off.
Enjoying life in 'gamble free land'.
Hi Sean,
U r doing brilliant, ur determination shines thru 🙂
Stay strong and keep going 🙂
13 unlucky for some, not for me, 13 days gamble free and counting!
Shaun
Hi Sean,
Great to see you still going strong.
January really is a horrid month...wasn't monday "blue monday"
Keep racking them days up and the spring will be here...making everyone feel better!

It's been 2 weeks today that I decided to take control of my life.
Must admit it is early days yet but am already noticing the changes. Less agitated and less anxious, if I wasn't really down about loses, I would be itching about the hundreds in my pocket - when am I going to have a gamble next?. When I played I played big, if down, I would be anything £500 - £1800 down, if up, I would be £400 - £2300 up. Always on the extremes but the biggest problem was that the casino was 3 miles away from my home, next to the gym and next to my work place, very accessible.
Onwards and upwards.
Shaun
Good positive post Shaun.
I think self-excluding from that casino will make all the difference to you. Keep that guard up at all times though. It's funny how a bit of time away from gambling makes us see gambling for what it truly is. We do not get time for such rational contemplation when we are in the heat of a gambling spree.
Enjoy your weekend and stay strong.
Day 15 and life is getting better, paid my car insurance today - not in 12 monthly instalments but in one lump sum, that is a first for me.
Funny, when we stay from gambling, we always have money in our pockets. With me it was the two extremes, hundreds in my pocket or now even 10p.
Shaun
17 was my number at the casino...........
and today is 17 days gamble free!
Today was tough for about 45 mins. From nowhere I got an urge to gamble, a very strong one. Luckily I need to travel close to an hour to gamble.
So the conclusion I have come up with is that SELF EXCLUSION works 100%.
Hi all
Day 21 and all quite on the western front. Watching royal family on UK GOLD - that is better then chasing number 17 at the casino!
Well folks, I am over the 3 week mark. Next week I am 1 month gamble free, it is surprising how quick the gamble free days mount up. Take care everyone.
Shaun
Good work Shaun.
Keep ticking those days off and keep watching those pennies mount up. You know it makes sense.
Affected by gambling?
