Hi Jaq

So glad you and your son are still doing great.

I think it is understandable you still have some trust issues from time to time. My wife has told me the same at certain points of my gamble free journey, and i can understand this mainly because i have had so many up and down days. I couldn't have done this without her and the same probably applies to your son with you.

You are doing everything you can for him by providing support as a caring loving mother, i think the rest is up to him and sounds like he is doing a great job.

Have a great Easter

Hi everyone and thank you all for your recent posts- Happy Easter and well done to you all x

Just a quick post, have just got back from Sunday lunch with my son, nice to celebrate his 26 birthday and that he is doing so well. He is 81 gamble free today, so this week will be 12 weeks, I am so so proud of him.

He went out last night with friends ( as I said) the first time since stopping gambling and the first night out since splitting up with his grlfriend. He did come home late, spent a little more money than he originally budgeted, but NO gambling 🙂 He sent me a lovely text whilst he was out saying " NO gambling or fruit machines, I feel like I have cimbed a mountain and I have you to thank Mum x" .... this meant so much to me, especially that he is so proud of himself too. This morning he mentioned that he went passed people playing on fruit machines and said to himself 'losers' - I know he is only at the beginning of his recovery journey, but it gives me hope - he also said it was a great test for him and he was pleased that he was able to go out, enjoy himself and not gamble.

Sorry for the long post, but I did have a worrying night, slept very little, but am proud to day. As always taking one day at a time.

Love to you all xx

my son is 85 days gamble free today 🙂 12 weeks how well he has done.

Went to his cousellor today and she is so pleased with him, she is off on holiday next week and then thinks she only needs to see a couple of times more (one that I am invited too as well) - he then can go to weekly meetings if he is not at work.

I am so proud of him, he is so happy ... I know he has a long way to go and must not get complacent, so will still take one day at a time... but for today I am smiling.

Wishing everyone a great evening... stay warm ...it's trying to snow here !! x

Hi all - haven't posted for a while as have been mega busy with life !!!

Well my son is doing well - taking each day at a time and building in those recovery day numbers - last week he hit 100 days gamble free - so proud of him. He hasn't been to counselling for a couple of weeks as his counsellor has been on holiday, but she is really proud of him and thinks he only needs a couple more sessions, then one wiht me and then he can join group sessions.

He is working hard and saving hard, keeping on the straight and narrow and taking each day at a time - he says he wants me to be proud of him again ... well he is certainly going in the right direction- take care everyone and enjoy the nice weather whn it arrives x

Hi everyone ... just checking in with you all.

Thanks for your posts Chicagoguy and Silly, my support for my son goes without question as I love him so much. I do still find the 'trust' issue hard but I know it is something we have to work on together. He only has a few weeks left of counselling, so hope he will be alright after that.

Take care everyone and enjoy the sunshine 🙂

Hey Jaq,

Glad your son is doing well, is there any G.A. meetings by him that he could get involved with for continued support? I started going to 2 meetings a week, Mondays meeting and Wednesdays meeting. It's great support, and would be of great value to him. Much congrats to both of you, keep up the great work.
